E90 in Grey rolling on White 19's + E34 on 19's

Hi all,

Just picked up a E90 325i for the Mrs to run around in whilst we await the 2014 Golf GTi that we have on order to arrive later in the year.

It's Space Grey Metallic with Black Dakota Leather, Dark Burl Walnut Wood Trim and the 6 speed steptronic along with fog lights, sunroof and rear park sensors. It's also wearing a set of CSL Style 19" rims in white.

I've already got another Beemer which is an E34 530i with a little bit of work done do it

Anyhow, I hope to pick up some good hints and tips off the site to help improve the 325 and keep it running sweet. We've already ordered a few buts and pieces and hope to find a replacement trim set as the Mrs doesn't the wood grain

Mitch

Thanks mate,

Installed an Eonon D5165 last night and a new starter switch as the old one was worn..

Just need to order the reverse camera and the wireless TPMS now. Also looking at wrapping the dead tree trim with something a little more modern

Yeah the E90 looks different on the white rims. Wasn't sure at first but I quite like it now. The Mrs also likes the white after originally wanting them silver...

The EONON deck is a ripper for the money! Little bit of trimming to remove the side mounts on the heater controls but other than that it's an easy jo and looks factory. The only thing was that the supplied installation screws weren't long enough but that was an easy fix.

Sound quality is substantially better than the stock deck. Not sure how it would compare to a logic7 system but it craps all over the stock system.

The functionality of the unit is pretty good to. The only one little thing is that their 'GENERAL' menu button is spelt incorrectly but it's not that noticeable. The CANBUS intergration is pretty cool, it's only basic stuff but it tells you that the boot/doors are open and gives you your trip meter info etc.

The maps are good, although it would be nice to have a little more volume from the navigator (it's adjustable but still could be a little louder). It does have spoken street names which is good.

I have received the TPMS but am yet to install it. I can only invisage that ths will become a desireable feature for those not running run flats any longer.

I can certainly recommend the unit for it's cost.

What do you mean you received the TPMS? Did you buy sensors or something? You know Aus spec cars don't use TPMS right? Pressure is monitored via the ABS system or something like that so it's different to US spec cars.

I haven't actually fitted a Digital TV tuner. It wasn't something I was interested in. However they are getting cheaper and cheaper and better and better so I might grab one later and plug it in. The EONON deck has the capability of running DTV and also has the reverse camera wiring built in. I'm about to purchase a camera that fits where the number plate light goes and can either hard wire it back to the deck or use a wireless transmitter which are about $25 on eBay. I might give one a go and see what it is like.

The plug and play nature of the deck means that it automatically picks up the reverse signal when fitted and there is a feature in the settings to allow you to switch it off of you don't have a camera installed.

Cheers

Yep, that's correct.. It is an after market system. Since we don't have the run flats we wanted something to monitor the Tyre Pressures and the EONON deck has that feature built in. The car is booked in on Wednesday morning to have the tyres stripped and the TPMS devices fitted. I'll be sure to put some pics up once done.
