Beer Belly
I drink about twelve beers a week and have developed a bit of a beer belly. I'm 190 lbs and 6'2 just to give you an example of my build. I'm active and have never had problem with weight but since I've been drinking more I've developed a gut.
Obviously cutting the beer will help a lot but what if I switched to drinking say 6 beers and 3 rum and cokes. Any info on alcohol and weight is appreciated |

There is no such thing as spot reduction for fat, the body gets rid of it how it wants from different places as your body fat % drops.
Rum and cokes won't really help, unless it's diet coke. Gotta lower the amount of calories you're taking in. Check this site to see the calorie level in the alcohol you're drinking: http://getdrunknotfat.com/ Do you drink every night? Me personally, I stopped drinking the, what I consider pointless, beer or two a night because I only drink now when I'm planning on getting drunk, or maybe a beer when dining out.

I always seem to find myself having a beer or two a night, and on the weekends probably double or triple that. Sometimes its more, sometimes less. I dont sit at home and drink beer but I always seem to find myself out with friends and we end up having a few drinks at dinner. |

I don't know if this is entirely true if your talking about the alcohol. I remember my biochemistry professor mentioning that drinking alcohol before any meal overloads the liver and most of what you eat will be converted directly to fat. I probably need a fact check on all this, but he said this is why you should drink red wine about a half hour to an hour after your meal.

I've cut down myself. Don't like beer, but drink Captain and Black Label. You see a huge difference with just cutting it out on the weekdays. But they also say going hard on weekends is just as bad, b/c you drink and go to sleep. I've switched to diet, I read somewhere a captain and coke is 200+ calories.

Pick up a fun sport-for me I LOVE racquetball-you get to crush the ball and have fun while burning a lot of calories. I will not run on a treadmill, so boring.
Like others have said, cut down on the booze a bit, maybe stick to just weekends, light beer and go find a fun sport. I went from 6'0 195 to a solid 180-185 and still pound beers on the weekend. |

I say drink all you want and be happy!!
if you're not going out and having drinks with friends, you'll be sitting on the couch watching tv eating snacks. plus going out with drinks with friends=meeting girls=more fun |
