I just finished changing my starter. I hate them. That is all. </rant>

YEP! They basically turn into dust at the smallest of touches. I replaced everything earlier in the year when I rebuilt my 3 stg intake manifold. The old tubes basically crumble in your hands and they only had about 200k km's on them.

Sorry OP for being off topic.

What else have you done since 200k km in terms of repairs/ preventative maint.

Mine didn't turn to dust. The hoses are in quite nice shape, but the snap connectors are getting pretty stiff at 11 years and 222k. Lost a lot of time just getting the lower one off.

NP maf330. My higher mileage repairs and issues:

160150 - Oil pan gasket
168675 - LCD in the radio
168756 - Trunk lift struts
173479 - Water pump died going to Easter dinner at the in-laws
174924 - replaced flywheel. 1800 rpm vibration. Big hole. Spring sticking out. Source 2009 128I with 37k. Rebuilt clutch as well, plus shifter bushing and some seals down there.
177000 - topped up the A/C
191709 - rad coolant sensor o-ring
196769 - belt and idler. Was chasing a rattle. Turned out to be loose O2 sensors
197912 - Water pump failed coming HOME from Easter dinner at the in-laws
199582 - Front right strut total loss of damping. Changed the one. I was busy. New mounts.
203688 - Drivers side strut
206242 - Rear shocks, all new mounts
207207 - Right rear wheel speed sensor. Fixed intermittent DSC/ABS fault
210832 - Oil filter housing gasket. This one was only 2 years, 54k old.
213179 - Greased rear seat hinges. Annoying squeak fixed.
215000 - Pinched the socket connectors for the battery pyro cable to fix a recurring airbag warning light due to a loose connection.
218500 - Battery, didn't fix starting problem
221827 - Starter from 2011 535i with 110k. Starts great now.

Current issues:
Front ride height sensor lower bracket broke a bit when I did the struts. It's held on with Zip tie right now.
Rear ride height sensor link arm is damn well seized. Squeaks when people get in the left rear seat. have the $12 part. Waiting for warmer weather.
Trunk wiring is twisted, frayed, shorting intermittently, and maybe broken. The boot has been torn since I got the car. I've been getting intermittent left reverse light shorted errors for a month or so. I have two new boots, one for my car, one for the wifes car (hers is WAY worse) just waiting for warmer weather. BMW engineers did pretty good with the way the harness is twisted during assembly to mitigate the flex issue, but non flex rated cable will still only last so long.

Wife's car, got it with 193k in the Summer, had to do:
Rear shocks, all new hardware. The right side came out in two pieces with oil spilling everywhere.
Splice a few wires in the trunk harness as a temporary fix until I do it right. I didn't have the rubber boot at the time, hers is badly torn.
Pinch the pyro battery cable connector to eliminate the airbag fault.
Trunk lift struts.
There is an oil leak. I suspect it to be the pan. I will get under to confirm and do it when the weather is nice.

I have similar make/miles, and share some of the same repairs. I'll have to check my hoses. Where do you usually source your parts?

Rockauto, autopartsway.ca and germanparts.ca mostly. Depends on price and which one has more of what I need at the time. When it's unavailable through them, or it's not worth the shipping charge, or I need it NOW, I go to the local dealer Endras.

Used parts have come from Standard Auto Wreckers and Carcone's.

I've used FCPEuro, Tischer and Turner and sent to my Hotel when I'm across the border on business for a few days. I've usually got a list running of small parts that are dealer only up here and aren't urgent, and order them when the opportunity exists.
