Trouble Removing Underseat Subs...Help?

I've removed the under seat sub enclosure. No problem there. I'm having trouble removing the speaker from the enclosure though. It looks like there are 2 clips holding it in and I can pull those back, but the speaker won't budge.

Is it glued in or something?

I understand they are glued in. Hence why I bought two scrap enclosures so i can return to OEM when necessary.

The 2010 ampless system with the 6.5 inchers

Is glued. This only came to the US in 2010 to early 2011 model year but is standard
with the base system world wide.

They weren't glued in my '11 E90 328i.

Pulled the 4 screws in the corners of the speakers, and they lifted right out.

I wonder if your is a 'newer' 2011 than mine...

Thanks. I'm installing a kit from musicar and was hoping to finish tomorrow. Guess I'll have to wait while I search for a replacement enclosure.

I did get the front mids and tweeters installed and that in and of itself is an improvement.

My 328i was built 03/10, but I have the base system. There look to be two plastic clips holding the speaker in, but you can see some glue on it. The enclosure itself looks a slightly different than others I have seen in writeups.

From 09/09 to 08/10 production the 6.5" woofers were glued to the OEM enclosure.

Just pry the suckers out hard, they are useless once removed. The OEM enclosure is still usable but you will need to drill the spacers to it.

Also FYI the base enclosure is shallower than others. Ensure you have a thick enough spacer

Black epoxy surrounding the frame. Use heat and a second set of hands the driver as well as the basket are left Very reusable.

After applying some more force I was able to remove them.

All it took was a flat head screw driver prying along the outside and some patience. It took about 10 minutes to free up, but it worked. I was able to get them out without damaging them.

Finesse over force for me. Follows same process of ' work smart, not hard.'
