Thumbs up Creaminz visits HP Autowerks

Okay, few months back I have done Quaife LSD installed by HPA in the past and they did an excellent job. So again I PM'd Harold@HPA about making my already great KW CS to an even better coilover. I got a reply back from him in few hours saying He suggest me to swap out KW linear springs with Swift linear springs rated @ 400/800 for Stree/track dual purposes. Most of you will say "that is pointless going from similar linear spring rate to one another." Well not quite.

"It will ride better from the proper rates, higher quality springs and the addition of the thrust sheets." - Harold

Arring at HP Autowerks in Santa Barbara California

Inside the office

This says it all

Work area in the shop is very well organized

Swift spring installed

All done. Ready for test drive.

First thing I noticed was how smooth my car felt on the road. Even at same identical settings with both CS springs & Swift springs, I could tell right away that these Swift Springs felt superior. Body roll seems to be reduced a bit and dispite of the better/comfortable ride quality, car felt even tighter around the corners!

Few weeks later, I met up with the photographer/writer from Bimmer magazine who showed up in his Porsche Boxter Spyder. Sick sick car by the way. He asked me about my suspension setup and took it out for a spin. He was amazed how well my car handled and couldn't believe how well it took turns through the Mulholland Drive. He loved the torque on N54 but was very impressed with KW/Swift combo. This means alot since what he drives probably has even better handling than 335i's big brother M3. After the photoshoot, I followed his Boxter Spyder down the road of Mulholland, I can't say I was on his rear the whole time but I did kept up with him pretty darn good. I am sure with better driver, my car could have done better. Car just took turns so comfortably yet precise. I loved it...except my wife screaming from time to time

To sum it all up, do you want to improve your coilover setup? Simply give Harold @ HP Autowerks a call. He will pick you the right spring rates for your needs and completely transform your handling characteristics...in a very good way It takes about 7 hours but his shop is near the downtown state st. of Santa Barbara where you can go eat, the beach, shopping, and movie theater as well.

Thank you Harold & HP Autowerks!

The Swift spring conversion is 4 hours. Corner weigh the car is about 2 and another 1 hour for alignment.
