All,

This post is a MAJOR UPDATE as Ant and I have now finalised some of the details for this trip.

When:
Departing August 18th 2012 and returning August 21st 2012 (ish.)

Where:
Nurburgring! Duh!

Details:
We are aiming for a day of touristfahrten on the Sunday (19th) but as it is the DTM Masters on Saturday, I dare say it will be pretty busy.

On Monday 20th, we will then be participating in Dino's track day offer between 08:00 and 13:00.

Anyone who wants to participate in the track day will need to pay a £200 deposit pretty much ASAP with the balance being paid 4 weeks before the event. As Dino has said - the more people who book, the cheaper it will get.... If you ARE interested, PM me or Dino and we can get you some details etc.

Accomodation:
We have found a hotel called 'Hotel-Restaurant birgeler hof' which is a reasonable price and looks ok - main thing is its only about 15 miles from the Ring. I've no problems with anyone staying elsewhere etc as hopefully we can all meet up on the Sat/Sun evenings and have some food etc.

Travel:
We are aiming to head out via Dover - Dunkirk or similar around 14:00 on Saturday the 18th. Obviously, we can meet people for a convoy on the Euro side if anyone else wants to go to Calais or via the tunnel etc - let me know and we can organise something no problem.

Return will be however you want, but for me it's going to be Dunkirk to Dover on the Tuesday 21st.

Deviations:
So, Ant and I are already making some slight changes to our plan to accomodate our speciifc requirements. Firstly, on the Monday (after the track day and all other fun is done) Jen and I will be driving back to Brugge where we will be staying for the night to catch some sights and drink some tasty beer - anyone who wants to is welcome to join us.

Ant and his wife are heading around Europe for some sightseeing, so you MAY be able to join them for some of that part of the trip before returning home, if you want to. I really fancied this, but I don't think we will have the holiday to spare. C'est la vie.

So basically, I hope to see some of you getting booked on the Track day to help us drive the price down!! I think (being 100% honest) that if we can get enough numbers it will just about make financial sense.

Thanks
Regards
Matt

Why not? Are you offering coaching services as well and therefor don't want to have third party coaches on there?

If I can bring an instructor with me, I'm in as well, ans probably at least one other friend of mine from Luxembourg, too.

Ant/Matt,

What time will you be setting off down to Dover. I'm not far from Leeds so wouldn't mind meeting up and traveling down in convoy.

Cheers

It's true I've done a few hundred laps already, but there's always room for improvement - and that is easiest when you've got someone with a few thousand laps under his belt. Also, my car is again substantially modified from last year (in particular the new suspension and brakes), so it will take some time getting used to it.

Will be great to see you again as well, and your M3!!

Totally independent of this thread (as I didn't even realise it was running until just now!), I will be going to the 'ring that weekend too....but for me it's mainly for the DTM.

Unfortunately its a trip out early Sat AM and coming back late Sun PM so I can't make the trackday on the Monday

Oh well, if anyone else is going to see the DTM or plan to be in the Pistenklaus on the Saturday night, I may see you there!

I'd love to go.. but am just too scared of the new precious! I've backed out of a trip with mates for the same reason in June.

I will of course get to a UK trackday some time real soon though..

I might as well just chop my member in half and hollow out a vagina, I know; I know. But it's too much money to risk stacking into armco half way around the 'hell. I am desperate to get my third trip; but it won't be in 2012 I'd fathom a guess to say.

Would be great to see you there mate! I absolutely have to see your XK-R.

Would be cool if you were at the 'Ring before that date though...!

Marcel - we could catch up very soon if you're around.

We're off for a drive to Switzerland and northern Italy in a couple of weeks (as you do ) but I have had to cut my already short 8-day trip into 6-days (I have a christening to go to on what would have been the 2nd day of our trip). This means in order to do nearly everything I originally wanted to do, I'm going to attempt to do northern Italy (Lake Maggiore region) to home in one hit on Saturday 10th March but, given I'll likely be doing 100% of the driving, I feel this may be a little ambitious! Therefore, I may be looking for an overnight stay on the way back so will be in touch

That's certainly one of the greatest things to do with a car - drive around the Dolomiti mountain passes in northern Italy. I still remember when I did that two years ago (Sella pass and loads of others), it was absolutely fantastic. I'll be going there again too this year, but only in September (then for two weeks though).

You're very welcome to stay with us on the 10th / 11th March, we're in Lux on that particular week-end and would be really happy to see you!

Don't get too excited, it sounds a bit 'tinny' (sorry, private joke) .

Absolutely no chance I'll be able to make a ring trip this year, I've already got various weekends away flying solo, my nuts would be mince-meat if I suggested another .

Bring the missus etc Rog.

We've now got 1-2 couples coming who are NOT racing, but just coming for the drive.
