Wink Fixed scraping noise on front wheel

I was amazed that this dust shield caused so much noise. I would imagine all four wheels could have this problem. Just the gnarliest grinding noise u ever heard bouncing off the road and buildings.... Made everyone stare. Just push back the flimsy dust shield behind the rotor. Easily and carefully bending away from the rotor towards the car. Just enough to stop the grind. Amazing something so simple vexes BMW service techs.

Did the sound occur during normal driving and not just on bumps? I actually was driving yesterday and i'm getting one of these loud grinding noises as well. The sound corresponds to how fast I am driving (not as bad when slow and bad when going faster). I dont understand why it happened it was literally out of the blue. Any thoughts?

The same thing happened to my car last fall. I was driving down my street slowly and it was an awful loud metal grinding sound. I thought something was seriously wrong! I felt around and noticed that the dust shield was making contact with the rotor and just bent it back slowly by hand. It's been quiet ever since. Now my right rear wheel makes a similar but quieter noise. I removed the sensors months ago, so it's not that. I think it's the shield making contact with either the rotor or parking brake components.
