LSDiff...

Has anyone upgraded to the LSD or have it on order? I read a car mag article that the Turnermotorsport system was for sale, called them and they said it's been out for "a long time" for the 335, which surprised me since 1) it's a new car and 2) I sure dont see active posts in this forum regarding LSD.

It's $2999 plus install and core, etc, making this a very pricey add on. I may go with replacing the horrid RFT's first to see if any power can be put down with this car, but I doubt it ; think what the Proceede can do with LSD.

Shiv, no LSD on your car? Why/why not?

I think one member already has LSD and a lot of members are in on the GB so they should have the LSD soon.

The Turner one has been around due to them racing the E90s in Grand Am. They have been racing the new 3 series since before the 335i was even in the picture.

OK my supplier is working out some prices. I recommend that everyone sticks with the stock ratio of 3.08. That ratio is better for a turbocharged 335i than say a 3.46.

With a 3.08 you can hold the gear longer and can "stretch" the power out better.

A lot of high horsepower E36 M3 guys switch their ratios from 3.23 to a 2.93 or 2.79.

Will post more info. as soon as I get a response.

The autos already have a 3.46. There's no need going too tall with the gearing, unless you are are making a lot of boost/big turbo. The taller gear just lets the engine load and hit full boost before hitting redline. The 335i hits full boost pretty quick and doesn't really make a lot of boost. Some of the e36 have such high peak boost, it takes awhile to get there.

Ahh.. interesting.. on BMWs paper brochure it says both transmissions have 3.08. On the website it says the automatics have 3.46. ETK says autos have 3.46 as well.. Makes sense that an auto has a 3.46 anyways.

I believe OS Giken has an LSD for E90/92s.

I am currently checking more into it...

what do you mean by that? the DSC/DTC works perfectly with an LSD.

Are you sure? The DSC/DTC are made to work with an open-differential in our cars.

The LSD acts differently by design from an open differential which leads me to believe that when DSC acts, it will get unexpected results and this may not be good.

See the other post I put in the other LSD thread in the Under the Hood (NA-Engine) / Drivetrain / Exhaust Modifications section.

Seems to me like the LSD and the traction control will end up fighting each other when traction is at a premium.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Sounds logical to me. TC thinks, oh crap , we've got spinnage and cuts your legs out when you're perfectly fine. I really have no idea though.

seems to me that you would have to have DSC programmed for LSD.
