iDrive S/W Update - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I just had the software update done on my '06 330i. The reason for the update was "poor AM reception". I was getting buzzing sound from the front speakers.

I love the updated look and feel of the iDrive. Much more responsive than before. A huge improvement over CIP 19.0 that was previously installed in my car.

Got the new update yesterday...... works great!!!!!! Traffic and VC working fine!!!!! New IDRIVE is SOOOOOOO MUCH FASTER!!!!!!! Love the POI search, also noticed that my DVD drive isn't constantly reading anymore and being super loud... also bluetooth connects much easier and sounds much clearer....... Another great feature is now the navigation lady's voice doesn't totally cut out the radio.. the radio just becomes a little more quiet in the background as she talks which is a great feature!!! I've never had an older version of the iDrive software so I can't compare, but I like a lot of the features that are apparently new. I was also impressed that the navigation instructions only "dim" the music volume... classy touch.

If you have a 335i, your iDrive isn't that old, compared to his '06. But yes, with the new Progman you can get these new features. Just schedule an appointment with your dealer and they'll do it for you.

Thanks for the photos. I have to say, I prefer the old colors on the map, but the new one still looks good.

I noticed from your fourth picture that the track is simply listed as Track 1. Did you know that you can burn your CDs with CD-Text and the system will display the name of the Track?

6-8 hours of labor. Unless you have iDrive issues.

Awesome, I'm presuming all new delivered cars will have the latest software on them?

Is there any way of finding out what you have without taking it into a dealer?

Just dropped off my car at the dealer this morning, brought in the SIB and told them specifically need the 25.1.1 in order for VR to work. Keeping my fingers cross, hopefully everything will go smooth.

I asked my dealer about it today and they mentioned that you have to "have something wrong to get it for free." I said, would you like me to say that my arrow display isn't working properly. My CA smiled, put his fingers in his ears and said "lalalalalalalala." He said that he isn't supposed to "coach me" but was perfectly willing to let me "claim" that my display isn't working so I can get it installed. Really its 6-8h to update the software? I figured they just plug in a cable and update in 30 seconds. I'm going to have my ipod adaptor installed next week so maybe they can do it then.

Even for this update, I had to bitch about it... Their favorite term is "customer complaint cannot be duplicated."

To me, I just picked up my car friday. I've had it 5 days. It seems that with a new car you should get the latest version of the software. Its not like I'm asking for them to give me the 6 extra programable cd changer buttons. This is just software.

Mine had the "Old iDrive". My car was built in Summer of 2005.

You should call up your dealership and tell them that your navigation has a software bug. "Missing arrow on the top right hand corner" will work better than "poor AM reception". With AM reception, you will definately get "can't duplicate customer's complaint."

The updated iDrive is so much better in every way. You should definately get the update.
