Alpina & Hartge - Worth copying engine mods?

Hi,

Anyone know whats the difference between Hartge & Alpina 335i's comapred to OEM 335i and is it worth copying any of the changes when modding an oem 335i?

I know back in the day a lot of people used to replace the manifolds for example on e30 325i with the alpina equivalents cause they were much better and produced more power.

I believe they run lower compression Mahle pistons which helps run higher levels of boost AFAIK.
