Used 325i 2006 good value?

Hi guys,

I'm a rookie and looking to buy my first car - not trying to invest too much as my first purchase and leaning towards buying a 325i 06 sports pkg with ~100k miles in hopes of keeping the car for 3-5 years.
The going rate is ~$14,000.

1. is this a good value?
2. how much extra will i be shelling out (out of pocket) in the next 3-5 years for scheduled maintenance, etc.? Will this outweigh the costs if I say purchase a TL (is the differential dramatically different?)

Sorry for all the questions, but any input or advice would go a long way!

I recently just picked up a 06 325i with sports and premium over here in Canada with 80k kilometers. I love it i've owned a 02 330i, Type R, s2000 and 06 g35 you definetly will spend more money on maintenence on the bimmer compared to the TL. But its true what they say once your drive a bimmer you dont want to drive anything else. The combination of handling and comfort is just spot on. I only owned my g35 for a year and took a big hit selling it just so I could get back to BMW. My advice is to drive both and see what you enjoy best.

no idea about value in your area.

scheduled maint isnt bad if you diy.

the car has a system called CBS, condition based service, use this to have it tell you when it needs brakes, sparkplugs, oil changes, etc.

ask for service records too. if they dont have them, you can have the dealer scan the chip inside the key and provide them to you.

post back with the info.

Yes i would take the car in for a PPI ( Pre Purchase Inspection) Maintenance should come first, and its pricey when it comes to BMW. With a 100k miles, there should be an Inspection 1 and Inspection 2 performed on the car. (You can find out whats included in an Inspection 1 and 2 by searching).

But honestly, if you are looking to buy a 6 year old car, just to drive around cuz its low in price. Then a 06 325i is fine.

But i recently bought a 325i, and i kinda regret not getting a car with more options and more performance almost practically for a small amount of money more.

If i were you, id make sure the car had iDrive, Xenon angel eyes, and the right interior color combo you want. It makes a big difference trust me.

Or spend 1-2 k more to get a 335i sedan which is turbo and comes with everything standard.

my two cents

I'll have my 330 down to about $14k once I fit the stock wheels and stock headlights in the next 1-2 weeks.

Clean autocheck/carfax, no accidents, no issues. It's been perfect in the year that I've had it.
