Skoda

Could not be more impressed with them as a marque. Had a brand new Greenline Octavia last July, sold it back to them today as get company car next week.

For the money (esp as I got it when they were doing the no VAT offer) it has been a hell of a car. 55mpg at the minimum, spacious, the 1.6 TDI engine is a beauty and much less gutless than you would think. It's probably the cheapest car I've owned in the last 10 years and probably the most impressive.

The icing on the cake has been that the friendly and efficient garage (Farmers of Leicester) offered me a much better than expected price in buying it back off me.

After owning E90's, Audi's and most recently a Mk5 Golf GTI I expected owning it to be a hardship, I was wrong, I will miss it!

They are excellent. And anyone who still has trouble with the badge is a fool. I'm seriously considering a Yeti for my wife's next car. My MKI Octavia RS was a peach.

I hope it's not VAG. Running a Skoda does seem to ruin the other brands.

Depends what you are comparing them with I suppose. I had a Fabia loan car and it was a proper nasty pile of shite.

The missus has just bought a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI and I can't fault it. My only wee gripe is you can't buy an armrest (I have lazy armitise) "They don't make one for the this model sir" apart from that it's just like a VW Passat. I might even think about the RS model instead of the new F30. I have a good choice of company cars and can't make my mind up.

Ah, I wonder if you can get a Passat armrest and will it fit??? mmmm

Insignia temporarily then either a A4 or Passat CC!

I will freely admit that I made an error of judgement (yet again) by selling my Octavia VRS TDI Hatchback last year, and after just 3 months of ownership. It was a very good car, well made, well specced and impressive economy and also a decent looking car. If I had kept it until now, I would have lost just a grand or so more in depreciation (at 18 months old) and it would have sold easily for a decent price. Instead I sold it cheaply, nearly bought a heavily depreciating Z4, but instead bought a 911 Cab which I had for 6 months at enormous (and I mean enormous) expense. Oh well, the benefit of hindsight eh!

Anyone for a 120d M Sport???

Serious value for money, is that a lease or PCP? Assume it is an Octavia.

Unlikely but you should be looking at Golf bits. Not Passat. Octavias are Golf/A3/Leon based.

The quality of the Superb I went in recently was as good as an Audi IMO. Loved it.

Wrong !!

I just sold my arm rest on the e-bay the other day. If you want the part numbers before I post it off, let me know!

I am still trying to sell my mk1 octy 1.9tdi estate at the moment, after buying the E91 320d. Cant compare the too cars really but I drove the Octy quite happliy for 60,000 miles in 3 years. 0.11 per mile for diesel and 110 a year road tax group 9 insurance. It didnt matter how much I paid for diesel 1.36 or 1.42 as it made no difference to the pence per mile. Now when I move the Skoda it fells like a fiesta to drive.

The 320d only does 42mpg compared to the 55+ on the Skoda but the E91 is such a nicer drive I dont mind.

Mate of mine owns a cab firm - and skoda is their metal of choice as it just runs without issue - and pricewise he reckons there isnt a bigger bargain out there!

One of their 'luxury' cars is the new superb - and it really is just that! I was really impressed - esp the way the boot opened.

Their cars do about 60k a yr ... and the fact that he will only go and buy skoda's now says a lot!

We run a fleet of 5 Octavia scouts, awesome motors, all the toys and the satnav is actually better than the BMW system, Engine is the 2.0 Tdi, with 4 wheel drive. Good but not great fuel consumption it soes everything well.
would reccomend as a daily drive. Servicing costs are also reasonable.
For a so called non luxury car, it has to be on the top of your list. I would give it 9 out of 10
