Cool Making 328 "better" than 335 with Performance Upgrades???? Possible??

So I know it is possible to make a 335i "better" and faster than an M3 by modding and chipping it.

So I was wondering....
Is it possible to make a 328i "better" or on par to a 335i through upgrades?
Why or why not?

I am not that knowledgeable about how everything works, but this is what I think and please correct me if I am wrong or let me know if I am correct.

M3 = V8
335is = I6 with TwinTurbo
335i = I6 with TwinTurbo
328i = V6

So can't you just add upgrades just as you would to a 335 to make a 328?
What mods would be needed and what are the best possible mods that can be done to make the BEST 328 ever (if possible)?

Thanks!!!

First, both 335 and 328 are I6 not v6.
The only thing that could make a 328 faster than 335 is supercharge it, but cost like 6k-10k. with the same amount of $, you can get the 335 to 500+hp.

The only thing that 328 has better than 335 is reliability, i had a 328 before and that shit is like a tank never broke down.

The only way you can get a 328i to have the power of a 335i is to get the turbo or supercharger instaled. Might as well get a 335i.

qclik.... reliability aside, the N54 is quirky. Some have solid N54s, some have their HPFP replaced so many time it's not even funny. I'll take the quirk.

As many will tell you it is going to be very expensive and not worth it compared to selling and just buying a 335. The basic thing are intake, exhaust, AA tune etc. Maybe will get you 15 whp. A supercharger is an option, but will run you about $8000 for parts alone.

In terms of performance, you will not be able to get close unless money is not an option.

Just a heads up people will rip you a new one on here for this post. I figured I would answer your question straight up before the asses get to you.

Of course you can do brakes, suspension, tires, wheels, etc to make it handle extremely well and look good, but in terms of raw power it just isn't financially worth it. Hope this helps.

thanks for input. fixed

and yeah that's what I was thinking, cost will exceed value.

but then I want the reliability of a 328 vs the 335 (obviously Japanese cars are much better, but I love BMW design)

Is there any cheaper option to make it just like a 335?
Please do not comment buy a 335, cuz that was not an option when I was getting my car.

LOL, with all the money that will be invested in a 328 just to make it "better" than a 335 is a waste of money, unless your rain never evaporates, then go for it. Anything is possible with money, but buying a 335i and modding making it better than a stock 335i is also possible. Good luck with your rain.

Just enjoy your car with simple mods. Dual Exhaust, intake, and tune. It will sound like a 335 in the end but wont be faster than a 335.

I would seriously recommend trading in your car right now for a similar 2010 335i while your car is still new and not greatly depreciated. Remember the 335i has a ZF transmission which the manufacturer claims to shift almost just as fast as their own DCT (it's on their PDF document), the brakes are much bigger, the differential is slightly larger, direct injection, front tower struct, and true dual exhausts. Basically a whole lot of things are "superior", and not just slapped on turbos.

power for power, this is what you'll get:
N52B30: base BHP 230 hp + 299 tq
performance mods:
- AA tune upgrade: 15 hp, 12 tq gain
- BMW performance intake: 3hp, 3 tq gain
- Exhaust: ~ 5-10 hp gain...

N54: 300 hp, 295 tq.

There's more you can do, but that's just basic numbers.

my car is on a lease and I would do it if I can get a 335i with the same exact options and color combo, so I doubt it will happen.

to be honest though, I just wanted to know if possible if I decide to buy my car because I kinda do not like the f30 based on pics. my goal was 328-->335-->M3, but after seeing the f30 based off pics I think I wanna keep my e92. I have to see in person, so I guess time will tell.

thanks for your suggestion though!

Does BMW have a performance kit thing like the ones they did for the Asian "The Switch" videos? Is that even worth it or waayyy too expensive?
And for what people do to make a 335 "better" than an M3, aren't they spending the same out of money as a M3 actually costs?

I just want my dick to appear bigger than it really is by shaving my pubes. Kinda like mounting M parts on a 335i.

nope, 335>m3 in term of drag race only need tune or maybe a downpipe which is like $1k in total for used price.

That kit is only for 335i and barely worth it because it only adds like 30hp/30lb-ft, and very expensive. Most people go with an aftermarket tune which costs a few hundred bucks and pushes way more power (like +100/100lb-ft). This is the beauty of turbo engines.

It's not hard to make a 335i faster in a straight line than an M3, probably about $1k. The 335i has more torque over a wide range to begin with. Handling wise, you need to spend about $4-5k to match the M3 (LSD + M3 suspension / components / tires)

I see. Thanks guys. So I think the best decision for me is to just stick with my 328 longer than planned and just jump to a M3 when I can afford it. I do not mind the wait honestly (5 years from now is when I would upgrade assuming I buy my 328 when lease expires and keep it until M3). The BMW is my second car. First car was a 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS. This was a HUGE upgrade for me already!!!

P.S. My Avalon has a sexy sport spoiler that I love btw. Check it out...
http://www.spoilerdepot.com/images/i...g?maxWidth=600

EDIT: Not as sexy since I have entered the BMW universe. lol

I'm sure with all of the options loaded up on your car you could've easily gotten a more basic 335i for the same price or cheaper. IT looks like you chose looks over performance. Still though your car is gorgeous, just appreciate it for what it is.

Thanks. And yes, looks and options are more important to me than performance because this is my daily driver, weekend driver, night driver, etc. This is the car I drive for everything so I wanted it fully equipped over performance. and I am thankful everyday, just looking for ways to make it more unique from the average 328
