Okay, so you know the car has an in-line six cylinder engine, right? There is no "passenger side" vs. driver's side" location of the O2 sensors (they are all on the passenger side). The trouble codes you are getting mean the O2 preheat function is not working and the sensor needs replacement. The car has four (4) O2 sensors, one each in front and one behind each of the two catalytic converters in the exhaust system. The exhaust system is broken down into two "Banks" of three cylinders each. Bank 1 is cylinders 1,2, and 3 (the first three cylinders in the engine from front to back). Bank 2 is the second set of three cylinders 4, 5, and 6 (the rear most three). The O2 sensor that is bad is Sensor 1, which is the O2 sensor in front of the Bank 2 catalytic converter. You can see it from the top of the engine if you look at the exhaust manifold for the rear most cylinders (it's right near the right-side shock tower).

There is a DIY in the DIY section to replace this O2 sensor. BMW has jacked the price way up on the O2 sensors ($215 USD from Tischer). I'd try to find the Bosch (Bosch is the OEM supplier to BMW) equivelent aftermarket sensor.
