100,000 Miles!

Good evening all,

Today I passed the 100,000 mile mark on the way home from service and work. It's been an awesome experience today and for the entire time that I've owned the car so I thought I'd share my experiences; I feel that too many posts on these forums are negative. Here is a reminder that good things can happen as well!

BMW 335i purchased new in July 2009.

This morning I dropped off my car at Herrin-Gear BMW at 9:30 with 99964 miles on the odometer. Spoke to my service adviser about what needed to be done before I was on my own. He recommended an oil change and standard scope. I asked to replace the plugs and that the brakes be checked as they were replaced at 87000 miles but were squealing sometimes lately. I also requested a transmission fluid flush and filter change to be completed out of pocket. Received a 328i loaner and went about my way.

2:00- SA calls and tells me that my transmission pan has a small crack in it and is leaking. There is still plenty of fluid in there, he says, so nothing else is worn. I ask to go ahead and replace it, SA says no problem and that the car will be ready by 5.

5:00- I pick up my car. Everything is finished and BMW is paying for everything but the tranny fluid and labor. I pay $349.99 and drive away; car feels brand new! The transmission is butter smooth again and there are no more squeaks. According to invoice, I got new oil, plugs, new wiper blades, new front brake pads and the aforementioned work. This is the first time I've paid a cent for any work on the car.

The best part? I still had all of my bolt-ons in place. JB4, DCI, downpipes, charge pipe and catch can. I wasn't able to remove my downpipes in time for service in the summer but wasn't denied warranty. This time I had a similar situation and thankfully the work was still done. Now I'll never have to remove any of it again!

So far this car has had only one failure- an injector at 44k which was covered under warranty. Regular oil changes every 5k and spark plugs replaced at 60k and 90k. For the simple and easy maintenance that I have put into this car it has given me back so much and troubled me so little. I hope that I make it 100,000 more miles and that each of you does the same.

Well done, BMW!

welcome to the club.

i'm curious how long term turbo life will play out as the 335's fleet ages.

awesome! a problem-free 335i reaching 100k miles. I may now consider not buying the platinum package warranty.

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission?

Nice car, I'm very impressed.

I'm also wondering. So far there has been no significant power loss and very little turbo siren for me.

Cool story bro. But I actually mean it. I wish I could ever get them do half the stuff I take it in for.

congrats! this car is so easy to rack up miles on. i put on 4500 miles in a month and half of owning the car and i thought 15k/yr lease would be enough. luckily (and unluckily) i have a beater to drive but i miss driving my 335 so much.
