N55 Exhaust Recommendation...

Hey guys...Looking to upgrade my stock exhaust to a full cat-back on my 2011 335i x-drive. I currently have the Vishnu DP with the stock exhaust (including the secondary cats). I would like a little more sound (not too much), additional power, weight savings, with as little drone as possible. I would like to hear the exhaust when I get on it but don't want to be waking the neighbors during daily driving at normal speeds.

Here is what I'm looking at:

* AE Full Cat-back - Heard these are not too loud, more then stock but not too aggressive. Good performance gains.

* HKS Cat-back - This seems pretty comparable to the AE cat-back. I hear this exhaust has a good balance of sound (not too noisy) with no drone. Does anyone know if this will fit an N55?

* BMW PE Exhaust - Louder then stock, Quieter then a full cat back, no smell because my secondary cats would stay in place. No weight savings + minimal performance gains.

* Meisterchaft Touring Exhaust System (Section 1, 2 + mufflers) - Heard these were very good but not sure not sure if they offer a complete system bolt on system with no cutting. The touring version is rated 3/10 for sound vs. stock 1/10. Anyone have this system??? Seems expensive...

* Any other exhausts that are not too loud that provide good performance gains, less weight and very little drone???

Any recommendations??

All the N54 exhausts fit the N55 right? I know our exhaust fits on the N54 awd no problem. Might be worth checking out. We have vids on our website.

Def. a personal preference as "loud" is pretty subjective. I say go BMW Performance or Remus Race, both are sporty when they want to be, and don't drone.

Couple clips of my Remus Race:

I heard the AE on my friends N55 with a AR DP and it sounds really quiet especially with the DP, i was really surprised because it was a lot quieter then my N54 and I only have the BMW PE w the secondary cats removed and that sounds crazy. I love the BMW PE exhaust but I'm biased

Well, after a lot of research and talking to a number of guys on the boards I decided to go with the AE Performance exhaust. From those I talked to it is a great balance between being a little louder then stock for normal daily driving but opens up when you get it on it. Plus I heard there is no drone! I'll post some pics and a review after I install it.

Thanks for all your feedback!

Frankie - Looks like we will be adding another exhaust to your N55 mod list!

I just bought the Vanguards as per **********s black friday sale. I on the other hand, cannot wait to replace the AE's with something meaner.

Congrats! That is the best exhaust for the $ if you want something loud! I'm not looking for something that loud but I want the performance gains and weight savings!
