All these proposed fences and border patrol increases are insane. It's like playing a giant game of red rover with Mexico, we have the jobs they want to support their families of course they are going to come over here for work. We already have the laws in place too, to stop this sort of thing by punishing employers who hire illegals, however these laws are not enforced.

I watch it everyday, and the entire law enforcement turns a blind eye to these people. Even my family friend who is a district judge hires illegals to do his yard work. The problem has to be stopped at the source for any real change, but it will never happen because it will mean a long teething period for employers in the south, having to suddenly pay more to legal citizens.

Your problem like ours is that neo-liberal capitalism as manifested since Reagan Thatcher relies on migrant labour and large scale unemployment to force real wages downwards. America can't afford to stop migrant labour neither can we, no matter how right wing politicians may complain about it.

Here in the UK we have a government who has a stated policy aim to slash immigration. And have just passed a budget which assumed immigration will increase....

Does it matter either way? This is China's century.
