Angry LPFP help!

**Edit: Problem solved. See my last post!!!

I just started to replace my lpfp and I can not get the fuel pump service cap ring off. I have beat it and beat it with a hammer and screwdriver and it hasn't budged. I even put a long pipe on the knobs that stick up and beat the pipe with the hammer too. No luck.

Am I going to have to buy that special tool?

Tool is 161020 and is about $140.

I assume this ring is threaded, correct?

Anyone have any tips to get this thing off or have the tool?

the ring is threaded. mine came off hard the first time too. Just keep working the ring in different spots until it starts turning. You need to get mad at it!

Well still no luck. I almost cut off 3 of the knobs on the ring. I ended up ordering a wrench on amazon for $28. It's more of a universal wrench but hope it works. Will know for sure on Friday.

Did you all reuse the lock ring?

I reused mine. You just have to get a large screwdriver and make your way around the ring slowly while giving it a healthy blow each time. It took me about 30min the first time around.

I think you can search on the forum and there is a DIY tool you can put toegher yourself if you just follow the directions. Search for it and you should find it. hope that helps!

Thanks for the help. It seems as though you guys have become lord of the rings

Well the $28 tool comes tomorrow, so I will wait to use the tool and if that doesn't work then it will be back to the old trusty hammer and screwdriver.

Logs showed fuel pressure in the 30 psi range at WOT in 4th gear. Hope this was the problem!

BTW the $28 amazon.com tool worked perfectly. I put the ratchet in a pipe to create more torque and it spun right off. My car has 91k miles and it was stuck on there pretty good.

Link to tool.

Well I have been having LP fuel issues for a few weeks. Logs were showing 30-40psi at WOT!

First I replaced the LPFP and relogged. Logs only showed and increase of about 5-10psi across the board.

I then replaced the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter assembly, which BMW states is a "lifetime product." Just relogged and fuel pressure is very high 60s to low 70s under WOT in 4 gear! Problem solved!

Just thought I would let everyone know!
