nope no rattling at all (only during cold starts), basically its a hissing sound that starts off low then as you speed up it becomes more audible. exactly how video 3 sounds.

This is the same symptom I had. If I changed to a higher boost pressure map it got worse (more audible) than on the stock map. Again I had no under boost codes and WG DC was normal. Worth a look and if you can do it yourself the o-ring was $8. I dealt with it for more than a year so it caused no performance issues.

After looking up that part number it looks like it's located on the passenger side charge induction, i had that piece removed when i installed my Helix FMIC about a year ago so we can X out that possibility. the hissing only came about when the dps were installed, hopefully its a simple fix (if infact an issue).

OP, 12/10 first post. I trust you have ruled out any gasket failure (exhaust leak). Have you bought this to a AR installer for a recheck?

Awesome... please let us know... I thought it was wastegate rattling, but if it's not, it'd be good to know. Thanks!

Went to 2 different shops to get it checked out

First shop stated there were no leaks but noticed that the vbands were loose so they retightened it, gaskets were fine, no carbon deposits.

Drove it around, same sound as before.

Went to a 2nd shop to get another opinion and the same thing, but they stated that the vbands were still loose so they retightened as well.

Drove around and now my cars even louder than before with the hissing, and sometimes i get a very very feint howling sound. .

Im guessing the Vbands are the culprit.. if i get them replaced it'll end up costing me more .

Honestly man, my car sounds the same and i think it sounds really really bad ass. Its your turbos spooling up!

Also, I hate this thread because it makes me paranoid that something is wrong with my car!

I vote wastegate rattle!

I had very similar noise. Removed the AR downpipes, had turbos replaced. Now with stock downpipes, I can still hear it very faintly on quiet (no wind) days bouncing against walls etc. I am certain it will get greatly amplified if I put CL DP back on.

Based on all research and input from techs, it's loose wastegates. I couldn't stand the noise and just gave up. Would be great if you figure out that it's actually something else.

One other test you can do is a video of reving the car from 3500 rpm down while parked after some spirited driving (don't restart the car because the wastegate actutator will readjust). You should hear the signature trademark wastegate flutter.

Lol, you're not talking about the same sounds then... This sounds is NOT the turbos spooling up and does NOT sound bad ass.

I had this sound, had new turbos installed, and still had the noise, so maybe it's unavoidable. Although when i installed Cobb, the sounds is about 90% reduced.

FYI I used AR designs gaskets and they were good for a day. They blew apart in about 1000 miles. They are just the paper ones. Next time I will use BMWs metal crush ring ones.

I also have the exact same sound after installing AR downpipes.

My mechanic forewarned me that I would get more wastegate rattle after downpipe install and IMHO that is exactly what this noise is.

The wastegates are rattling so fast it almost sounds like continuous round of machine gun fire.....or hissing as has been described here.

But there is no mistaking the metallic note to this sound, so metal is hitting metal here.

update..

After 7+ mo. since my last post, the whistling / hissing sound is even worse, super loud. My car literally sounds like a metro bus leaving a stop. Feint howling / siren noise still present upon acceleration at partial throttle. The police siren isnt obnoxiously loud but i can def here it in the cabin while the windows are up especially driving up my parking garage ramp since the sound bounces off the side walls.

Will need to bring it to a shop AGAIN and see if theres anything that could be done. I know most of you guys think this is normal but i can assure you that it isnt after comparing it with other peoples cars with the same setup. Very irritating to say the least.

It could be that the v clamps came loose after sometime, but tightening them didnt really solve the problem, as previously posted. Will letcha know when i find time to get them checked out.

Keep us updated. I'm planning on getting AR DPs in the spring.

The OEM gaskets at the turbo could be worn. Clamps loosening up will also cause a gasket to blow pre-maturely if there isn't enough pressure between the two surfaces to seal.

The OEM clamp part number have been replaced a couple times so if you're having trouble with them loosening up, they could be defective/worn. If the inner surface of the v-band stretches too much you won't be able to create enough pressure for a constant seal.

Thanks for your reply, back when i checked the dps, the gaskets were fine, no signs of wear or tear or carbon deposits, i had brought an extra set just incase and they stated it needed no replacement, ill definitely have the shop take a look again when i bring it in.

It's really difficult to check for carbon deposits unless the DP's are removed since there's limited vision of the upper half of the pipes.

yep, totally aware of that, the shop had removed them and checked both the gaskets and the dps, and the outside part was fine and hadnt started flaking either. By now i wouldnt be surprised if they are a mess.
