Hey guys,
further to my prior post, I am happy to say that my twin-plate setup is moving forward, as such I am keen to sell the 10 kg ADVAN flywheel I have been using. I will be letting it go for $695.00 Aus exclusive of shipping. That is significantly below our cost price. ![]() As mentioned I will have Rosco of Ross Balancers take 20 thou' off the flywheel driven face and top pressure plate skirt, so it will be as good "AS NEW". ![]() Lastly I should be able to deliver it to any address in the US for $150 Aus, via FedEx International Priority mail. Cheers. |

Hi Gents,
do I have any takers for my 10 kg "Single Mass Steel" flywheel? It is a very nice addition to an ACT "Street" clutch upgrade. The above combo is super streetable and will hold up to pretty much anything you can throw at it, except for drag racing on Hoosiers and the like. ![]() If that is what you are seriously looking to do, it would be best to hold out for the twin-plate setup we are currently developing. ![]() |

A cheeky way to bump the thread.
![]() The below is a post from the 1Addicts Commercial Sales forum. Quote: Originally Posted by ezeedee how does someone find out if they have a 6 or 8 bolt? i didnt know there were two different styles until i saw this thread. Hey mate, I suspect it is a function of build date. The earlier 135i's such as yours have "8 bolt" flywheels, where as that later models such as mine utilise "6 bolt" units. I am not sure if it's the same for 3 Series N54's. I am fairly certain all the early model 335i's use a "8 bolt" unit, but I do not know if that also changed somewhere in the production cycle. If in doubt I imagine quoting your VIN/Chassis number, to somebody like Dan@BMW United would allow you to determine what version of flywheel is required. Cheers, Justin. Justin, is the new flywheel being developed along with your twin-plate setup lightened as well?
Also, would you say that a twin/multi disc setup more appropriate for the drag strip? Would you recommend it for road course guys and canyoning?

yep the flywheel in our multi-plate clutch setup will be lightened. At this stage I do not know what it's exact weight will be. However I can tell you it will certainly weigh less than 12.5 kg and it will be made of chromoly steel, NOT aluminium. ![]() Like our previous flywheels it will also be nitrided and given that it is a complete clutch/flywheel solution, the starter ring gear will be machined into the flywheel. A well engineered twin-plate clutch, is without a doubt appropriate for all forms of motor racing. In particular drag racing, where there is a possibilty of a single face cast pressure plate literally exploding with a high horsepower, high rpm full throttle launch. Admittedly it is a very rare occurrence, however I am sure the drag racer who is missing a foot would not take too much comfort in knowing that. Feel free to Google the matter, I think you will be shocked by the info you will come across. This is never going to happen with an OS Giken multi-plate as the pressure plate (pivot ring) and centre (intermediate) plates, are all heat treated billet steel. Also if one was to ignore the inherent danger of drag racing with a single face clutch that was primarily intended for street use, you will never have the torque clamping capability of an OS multi-plate in a N54, unless you run a 6 or 4 puck single plate clutch with a super heavy diaphragm in the pressure plate. With above setup, engagement will be quite hash and pedal pressure will be super substantial. Cheers, JD. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 02-12-2012 at 01:13 AM. Reason: Typo |

Hi Guys,
my ADVAN Performance flywheel is still for sale. I am super keen to sell my 10 kg unit, as ideally I would like to put that money towards the multi-plate clutch we are doing for my 135i. The new asking price is $595.00 Aus exclusive of shipping. FYI, if anyone is interested in a lightweight 7.5 kg "Track" version I can have Rosco CNC machine my original unit to those specs. It costs ADVAN an additional $200 to produce the 7.5 kg unit, over that of the original "Single Mass Steel" flywheel and that is what it will cost you. ![]() Cheers, JD. |

![]() Hi Gents, any takers for my 10 kg "Single Mass Steel" flywheel? My OS Giken twin-plate basket will be here sooner than expected, a few extra dollars in my back pocket would be handy. ![]() |

Gents,
as I am still super keen to sell my "6 bolt" 10 kg unit, as ideally I would like to put that money towards the multi-plate clutch we are doing for my 135i.The new "new" asking price is $495.00 Aus exclusive of shipping. This is way below our cost price and I'm silly to sell it for that, but truth be told I could use the cash. ![]() As such you could have a true lightweight 7.5 kg version, that is made from chromoly steel and nitrided for only $695.00. ![]() Cheers, JD. |

Hey guys,
our 10 kg "Single Mass Steel" flywheel is still up for grabs. IMHO, this is an excellent match for those guys who are doing an ACT "Street" clutch upgrade, as that combo will provide trouble free clutch/flywheel operation on the street & race track, even for those running RB turbos. ![]() Cheers, JD. Hey mate,
I apologise for not responding to your post. I have not looked at this thread in a very long time. Truth be told we had pretty much given up on the US market, as every time I quote shipping costs on one of our components, I get this reaction... lolAnyway if you have a 335i that is built pre-January 2009 then you have a "8 bolt" flywheel, January 2009 on it's a "6 bolt" like mine. It would seem that the month of January is the changeover point, so whilst December 2008 and February 2009 are clear cut with regards to application, if you have a Jan' built car it would be worth confirming the OE part# using your VIN at a dealership or online to avoid any confusion. Cheers, Justin. Quote:
it's still for sale. ![]() When would you need it and are you interested in the 10 kg version as it is, or would you like the weight further reduced to 7.5 kg for circuit application? Lastly here are some pics of the exact flywheel that is currently in my 135i, it's obviously a "6-bolt" unit. Cheers, JD. Last edited by Justin@ADVAN Performance; 05-03-2012 at 03:10 PM.
