Iphone 4S Integration into 08 E90

I have a 08 E90 with I-drive/navigation. Obviously this is pre 6FL. I am thinking about purchasing a 4S, and this is ideally what I would want to do.

Be able to use steering wheel controls to call, change track, volume, etc. Music will become quiet when messages or phone calls come in. Be able to use Siri properly.

Which of these options would be best and be able to to do everything I want? If neither can, what is the best that each can do?

Option A: Full wireless bluetooth using a bluetooth receiver or other method

Option B: Iphone dock

Thanks for the help.

I've nevere used the ipod dock before, but my new 4s synched via bluetooth just fine. All the phone options work flawlessly. I use the audio input with a 1/4" cable. FYI keep the volume one notch below max or it will distort the signal.

I have the 4S and everything works top notch. Even when using it as an iPod.

I have the 64gb so i have like 5,000 songs loaded.

From what it sounds like though, If you plug the iphone into the armrest and use it in ipod mode. There is no way to activate Siri. I was hoping you would be able to hold down the phone button on the steering wheel and have it activate Siri, but it does not sound like that works.

I wouldn't mind holding down the home button on the phone to activate Siri, however, I would prefer not to have a chord connected to the phone while driving. This means I would want full bluetooth so I can play music.

Any suggestions?

I would do a combox retrofit and hope BMW updates it to pass through the voice control to the phone.

Curious if once Jailbreak is avail for the 4S, if you can use the activation options to allow Siri activation with a button sequence like pressing volume up twice. I'm also not sure if a volume press on the steering wheel = volume press on the iphone.

Otherwise, the way I see it, iPod control works, bluetooth works, all fade functions work thru vehicle. Siri has to be done thru iPhone.
