Stock vs Stock, E90/92 335i vs E46 M3

335i with Sport Package, maybe the same tires, RFT sucks. Both with manual trans. Which car is faster on a track, say....Laguna Seca or Willow Springs Raceway? What about on an autocross course. Driven by the same driver of course!

The M3 will probably win. I love my 335i and once I have worn off the RFT tires and put a set of real tires on it, I am sure the car will be different animal. A couple of more track days and these things will be toast

In two autox's I have yet to loose to a stock E46 M3. I did loose to an M3 with lower springs and front camber plates but it was fairly close.

This was at 5000+ft in Denver, the loss of hp at altitude for the M3 is higher, so take that into account.

Cool! Set the 1/4 numbers aside from various magazines, in the real world drag, which car wins?

http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/2006/stockc.html

this is the SCCA's grouping for auto X

the E46 M3 is in A stock
the 335 is in F stock

a full size track will be a bit different, but look at the cars the M3 is grouped against, then look at the cars the 335 is grouped against....

looking at that, it tells me that the sports car club of america doesn't think the 335 is even close to the E46 M3 when you're running a timed event.
