Lol I have been building motors, tuning cars, etc for a long time as a hobby and often as a side job. The manifold is built just like all manifolds we build for cars. After the design failed for technical reasons they ghetto rigged it to get the car running as fast and cost effectively as they could - its just the truth. I am not bashing them. I would have done the same thing if I were in their shoes. Just don't try and spin something that is in plain sight. I don't know why people think there is anything different about any platform from each other. The engine is an airpump. A turbo allows more air to get in per "pump". The manifold feeds the turbo to spin the turbine to get the compressor spinning so that it can compress air. It's not magic. That manifold had a decent design for flow. It fit in the space available in the engine bay. Nothing special. Now it's just ghetto rigged to work but I see some other issues. Thats all I was saying. Sorry it got under your skin. It was not meant to.

Im sure theyll get it running and will dyno soon.
Really dont get why they would do this on an 6at, but I look foward to the results.
Hopefully they properly design the manifold this time.
Its better to measure 10 times and cut once then to measure one and cut 10 times lol.

That is a super lazy hack job, this is pathetic of HPF, this guy has loaned you his car for three years and that's all you can come up with? Give me a break.

Its not pretty...But it s not done.

Lets sample the cake before you bash the recipe.

I do agree on the time line... three years on a car that already has turbos and a tuning solution.
The 335 project clearly took a back seat to the M3. Maybe they had a reason, but it just sucks for the OP

The s54 is and always has been their main priority. This company obviously doesnt give a sh*t about the n54, if they did they would have bough their own "project car"

I said this in another thread but I feel like it deserves to be here too, if for no other reason than to light a fire under HPF's ass. if i was the guy that dropped off my 335 at HPF, i'd be so pissed every time i read one of shiv's update threads. he's doing stuff almost single handedly in the span of a couple months that HPF, with a huge shop full of guys, hasn't been able to do in 3 years...truly pathetic. he waited a year and a half to hear they welded end tanks onto an intercooler core (big tom's intercooler must have had YEARS of r & d then, right?) and made a $2,000 10' section of straight pipe. wow.

I am hoping and cheering for HPF to come to market with something, soon!! I don't even care that there's a plate welded in as an afterthought. For me, as long as it works well I would consider it. However, this solution will have to cost less than Shiv's, in order to sell any units simply because of the forums (understandably) negative sentiment towards this manifold. It simply isn't as well engineered. If it is priced higher or even close to Shiv's, no one will buy it. At any rate it will provide some competition in the single turbo market which will be needed right away.

I feel bad for the OP. Props to you for having such patience!

I think we are starting to see the lack of effort put forth by HPF in regards to this kit. It is pretty evident that they focus primarily on the e46 M3 and devote most of their time/money/expertise to it.... If they are such resident "experts" and have been doing so much research, then howcome many avg. enthusiasts in this very same thread were able to point out some shortcomings in their design (related to the 02 sensors)? As of now, this kit looks like it is banking on the success of their e46 m3 kits and less on the actual innovation of this specific turbo-kit.

With that being said, I really hope HPF proves me wrong. They have a huge opportunity to create a game-changing turbo kit, and certainly have the capability to do so.

2012 is going to be a fun year for the n54.

that alone has really changed my opinion of HPF. i don't really have any confidence in their tuning or manifold design after they threw the rev.1 mani together without considering o2 sensor placement. me and a few others posted several times in this thread about it, they either missed the posts completely or thought that they new better than some forum t00ners
