iDrive Demo

I just finished posting this on the video section too but I think it belongs here as well.

I just finished uploading a video I made earlier today about the new Progman update of the iDrive. I go through it's features and interface. It might be informative to some though which was my intention. I hope you enjoy it.

If you need any videos of the 335 just post it here or PM me and I'll try to do it. BTW anyone with iDrive should contact their dealership to get their's updated, it's definitely worth the wait.

Cheers!

Hey nice job, I watched it all, better video when you get closer to the screen so it's not blurry. Can you do a video just on the Navi, like how to search for several places by POI, like restaurants or starbucks or other main chain stores I'd like to see this on video. How to search showing it's easier than before your software update. Also can you do more of some of the voice commands, that was cool when you said CD.

Thanks

Nice job. This was very informative. Though, I'll probably still not get iDrive because I'm a computer geek and I'll just try to tear up the car trying to hack it to do what I want

continentalg5,
have any more videos of using the i-drive like searching POI and using the Nav. Can you make the left side large for map and use the right side for radio/CD tracks?

Thanks

Arrow display will work when you set the navigation to go to a certain place. The arrow display will point to where you should go and how many miles to the next turn. Other than that, great vid.

OT...is that cord for a radar detector (x50)?

Anyone know the answer to this?
Can you make the left side large for map and use the right side for radio/CD tracks?

So how can you know what music is on when you have large map displayed? With 6FL, you can't play around with your intergration iPod and have large map at the same time?

It's straightforward - the entertainment screens are only available in the main window. If the main window is showing something else (climate, navigation, communication) then you're limited to seeking/scanning with the console stack buttons (and possibly the steering wheel, depending on what's in the main window)

As for determining what music is on - iDrive displays limited info in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. For AM/FM it shows the station, for CD/DVD's it shows the track number (useless for MP3 discs). I can't speak for 6FL as I don't have that option.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'll do a POI search video it's not a problem except you just have to give me a day or two to make it, I'm kind of busy at the moment. But I'll get to it very soon! Any other iDrive functions you want demonstrated?

What you state is correct.

I have iDrive and 6FL, it only displays the name of the Volume for the USB stick. So if you name your USB stick "SONGS" then it just shows that name.

Basically the left larger window displays everything that is available, and the right window can only display map and trip options. It would be much better if both windows could display the same thing interchangeably.

Cool! Useful for those of us (me!) who are thinking of getting iDrive.

I used to work in Paramus!

No problem, I enjoy doing things to help out potential owners and current owners as well. I remember while I was waiting for my car I would become almost obsessed looking for things to read/watch about the 335.

I will be doing another video most likely tomorrow, does anyone need anything covered? I'm going to do POI search demo but if anyone wants anything else demoed post it and I'll make an effort to do it!

Hey quick ?: when you're in Navigation mode and have both right & left screens showing navigation, is there any way to make one view different from the other?...or must both be the same? Would be great if one could be zoomed in while the other out...or one showing direction of travel and the other w/ north up top.

That is correct, there is only one map view that can be chosen to feed both sections of the screen unlike in my M35x where it can be set to two different maps. I honestly don't miss that feature while driving though.
