e92 double din fascia kit.

hi people i am new to the forum so sorry if this has been asked before i have tried to search this as much as i can. i am looking at getting e92 320d soon and wanted to fit my pioneer avh-p4300dvd cd player into it. am i right in thinking i will need this fascia kit? http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/connects2-ctkbm01.html

does this one allow me to relocate the heated seats buttons to the ashtray?

also it says i will still be able to use the steering wheel controls with an extra patch lead and the parking sensors will still work. i was wondering what will happen to the bluetooth? would i still
be able to use it with the pioneer unit?

if anyone has got any pictures of this or any other fascia's fitted could they post them please.

thanks in advance

Jake

From the picture in the top right corner it has the seat heater relocation parts, the grey extended ribbon and the two parts of the ashtray.

The factory radios are connected into the vehicle CANbus data comms for things like on/off, muting, steering wheel controls etc, probably bluetooth too, so no hardwiring as such?

I wouldn't think the Pioneer would work with any of that without some nifty work, although the kit seems to say the wheel contols will work...

3rd party units cannot be linked to the steering wheel phone button, headunit functions are not a problem. Also be carefull where your additional microphone is position as if it is too close to the original BMW one it causes static.

TBH I ruled out fitting a double din unit as I didn't like the look of it once installed, my local ICE dealer was able to show me one of his Demo cars and TBH I thought it looked awful so decided against it in the end.

i am in a bit of a dilema now. i have seen that you can get a usb port in the armrest. Am i right in thinking its called 6fl? if so can you still use the cd changer steering wheel controls and bluetooth? is there any down sides to this kit?

i would love to put my double din as i know i can still use the steering wheel controls and parking sensors. my only troubles are will i be able to use the cd changer still? also is there no way i can get the steering wheel controls to work with the parrot as well.

If you replace the headunit I cannot see how you will be able to use the OEM CD Changer and there is no solution available that allows you to use the phone button on the steering wheel to access a third party phone kit. If you want to retain this function you must keep the original headunit.

Not sure of the differences to be honest but it's possible to have anything retro fitted as far as I know but it will all come down to cost.

My last car didn't have USB fitted and the best quote I had to fit it was £750, a friend has recently had the Bluetooth option fitted and it was £600. My M sport has the voice control on it and as I didn't spec it I presume that it comes as part it the bluetooth option although I have to say I have never used it.

Basic voice control comes with bluetooth, this allows you to dial numbers and also manages to recognise names from your phonebook.

644 is the Professional Radio without iDrive and the screen in the centre of the dash.
You may have integrated Bluetooth with the previously mentioned basic voice control.

If you want any sort of integrated iPod control get a car with iDrive.

You don't need IDrive for Ipod control, I can control my ipod through the steering wheel controls etc and I don't have it.

Also good luck finding a 320D with IDrive.

6Fl usb audio interface
672 cd changer
644 bluetooth phone prep.

also how do you rate the 6fl interface can you see the playerlist/tracks on the cd player screen?

Yes you will be able to see the track list etc without the Idrive/screen although I have to admit if I could go back to when I was buying mine I would go for one with the screen.

Those options will give you want you want
