MTEC HID Fogs... Error Code SOLVED!

After about 6 months of having my MTEC HID Fog lights i found a way to solve the error code!!!

I got the idea first from a guy who had a e46, they went on e46fanatics and found the same thing.

Basically all you need to do is add a 4700uf capacitor to the line and bam. all better

you can find these capacitors at Radio Shack and they cost about $5 each. Heres what to do.

Get 2 capacitors, one for each side.
In the power wire coming from the oem plug into the ballast for the HID, remove a 3-4 inch section of the shielding to show the wires.
In the center of that cut section, using a stripper push away a small section to show the bar wire( on both the red and black wire)
now insert the capacitor between the + and - wire, with the arrows( or direction of current) going from the + to the - .
solder the wires in place
tape it up nice and good!
posotive
Thats it

Awesome. Are these electrolytic capacitors, the ones that will blow if you hook them up backwards?

For capacitance as high as 4700μF it has to be electrolytic. I wonder what minimum voltage rating is needed in order to connect to an HID bulb.

Super find! Cheap, fast and great! You rock! One question, dont those get real hot and might burn the wire? Wouldn't it be safer to move them towards a metal mounting area?

today, i installed mtec HID foglight.
However, I get error message IF the car is not running.

If I drive the car at normal speed, then the error message won't pop up.
Weird. Anyone is having same problem?

please don't misunderstand.
I have not tried it. Today, I will visit the dealer to reset my computer and see the result first. If still pop up, then I will try it. I will keep it post.

I just tried this.......the final result:

But I have a relay harness attached to my HID fogs because it needed more power........

But I'm going to try it without the relay harness this weekend and see what happens....
