What is the highest temperature you got your engine up to? Ever Overheat?

Obviously not through a water pump issue or sensor failure or engine failure.

Have you ever significantly raised the temperature on your e90 from hard driving, WOT it often, going over 100MPH. Has it ever overheated?

Just curious to see some responses, I know the Pre LCI 335 didn't have those oil coolers so it will be interesting to see what some people have run into.

Thank you!

Mine always sits between 240-250. Only on a couple occasions have I gotten it up to around 260ish, but that was after a couple 60-140mph runs. other than that always sits happily around 240-250.

Mine will go up to 245, and no matter how hard or long I drive, it will never budge (up or down), even if I let it idle 10 min. I'm assuming this is the operating temperature chosen by BMw

Mine always runs at 220. 240 if I pushed it hard in the summer, but that is very rare. Do you folks not have oil coolers?

I'm guessing they don't have sports package.

Before I had a dci the temperature would be at 250 and 260-70 but after I put the dci on the temperature just sits at 240 driving hard or not

The highest I had my 335i was 270-290 after sprinting up Mt. Palomar in the summer. I let it cool down a little after that run. And that was with the oil cooler, which probably kicked in.

Going up the mountain doesn't even make my M3 register a blip.

250 on hotter days and extended city driving, 240 during cool days and casual cruising.

When pushed for an extended period of time, I've hit 255.

I do have the sport package, but i still hover around 240 with regular driving, around 250 with aggressive driving and I've only gone above 250 a couple times while doing 60-140 runs. Think this could be an issue? Thanks

check the track forum, I've posted a pic of my car hitting 300F with the stock OC.

Issue resolved after I installed the STETT Stg 2 kit. The stock OC is enough for spirited street driving but doesn't cut it if you know how to push the car at the track.

mine was without oil cooler (early '07) and was running ~240 avg. On hot days or when drive hard could be around 270-280.
After stett cooler installed temp dropped to ~210-220 in summer and never goes above 250 on very hot days.

As far as I remember (did some research when got mine with no cooler).
Before April '07 there were no coolers on 335 sport package with Auto tranny, but Manuals were with the cooler from factory.

After April '07 cooler was a standard with all tranny types at least with sport package, not sure others

Those are OIL TEMPS on the gauge below the tach. There is no coolant temp gauge on the E9x.

My 07 has an oil cooler - Sport package + 18" wheel option = factory oil cooler. I see 230-250 on the gauge after long periods of driving, but haven't hit the track, yet. You can easily see 290-300F oil temp on these cars on track, but remember that's also the oil temp in the pan - the hottest point. After the oil cooler and back into the engine is still probably about 240F.

follow the info in the track subforum (limp mode sticky) to display the coolant temps on your dash. Or if you have a JB4, you can also remap fuel or oil gauges to display coolant temps.

As long as the track has 1-2 long straights your coolant temps will remain lower (99-107C) than spirited street driving due to increased airflow, technical courses with continuous turns will show higher coolant temps than street driving. It's all in the sticky
