My favourite of these tests is still the one with the Viper ending upoff a cliff trying to keep up with a Ferrari..

Shouldn't it be a ferrari trying to keep up with a viper?

Interesting.

I'd be surprised if many buyers of each considered the other car.

For me, despite being mahoosivly quick and capable I just dont like the GTR. I hate the interior, dont much like the exterior, and in the flesh it is HUGE.

Not fussed about lap times, I'd sooner spend time in the M5.

Exactly this.

Whilst it was an interesting video, it wasn't half a stupid comparison.

~2 tonne 4 door super saloon vs 1700kg 2 door all out super car that will leave most Ferrari's/Lambo's behind.

Next up: BMW M3 vs Bugatti Veyron!

Well I know its Beamer forum.

Which one will you buy, if you are single and can have only one of those.

I will opt for GTRII.

I probably want a gtr more than any other sensibly priced car at the mo. I just cant afford the purchase price right now.

Even the old one. Despite having never been in one I get the impression it's one of the best affordable road cars for the money. Driving perfection, it doesn't bother me what it looks like, it's all about it's ability and what it makes me feel like driving it.

I'm surprised some people here haven't had them yet.

They are a superb piece of engineering for the money. There is very little on the road for that money that would live with one.

My mate has the original GTR which in standard form was brutal, it's now running at 975~BHP thanks to an SVM upgrade. The car is now truly unbelievable, capable of a qtr mile time of 9.5 sec at 145mph! Frighteningly fast!!!

However, if i was looking for a four door family saloon with mental power I would without doubt go for the M5, if i was after supercar performance for less without doubt i would be buying the GTR

How does that in any way make sense as a comparison?

Try putting a family of five in a GTR...

Awesome piece of kit the GTR..such amazing value for money and it has such a presence on the road..this new M5 will have to grow on me, do not like the blue calipers and boring wheels..

I remember reading somewhere recently that BMW are struggling to get orders for it too..

I do agree, VERY POINTLESS comparison.

The GT-R needs to be compared with F458's and Aventador's with its awesome performance.

People who Buy M5's aint in the market to buy a GT-R and vice versa.....

I rekon 100-200mph rolling the M5 may take it.
