Question Takata airbag recall - is software update required ?

anyone know if the (finally getting addressed) takata airbag recall involves the dealership upgrading any software - DME or otherwise ?

read somewhat related threads but no clear answer...

I got mine done a few months ago and my coding didn't disappear.
They sent me the letter saying the parts were available strangely they
had to order the part from Germany and I had to wait about a month.

you mean the custom coding you had on car before the repair ? since it seems no SW update is required that sounds right. I actually don't really know if a SW would trigger a reset of the (related ?) coding...

Had my airbag replaced and I don't believe they updated the software. If they tried, I'm sure they would have been confused and stuck on how to do it with my retrofitted NBT.
