Possibly fake GPThunder products sold by ipremiertek - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I got another pair of GP Thunder 8500k off eBay last week. I got them in yesterday, but I think these are imitations.

Now that I look at the eBay listing more closely, their packaging resembles the original (v1) packaging of the GP Thunder, but upon closer examination the distribution is not the same as the ones I've seen in the past.

I have a real pair of 8500k and the blue tips are less pointy on the genuine pair. Also the plastic base and metal collar is different. When installed side by side, the fake is noticeably less white. Although, the 8500k I had is v2. These seem to be close to what a GPThunder 7500k would produce.

Seller ID is ipremiertek which is a copy of the original maker; premiertek.net
Although I did wonder if its just a old v1 version, but those do not have the plasma ion coating.
Also if ipremiertek was the original supplier, why don't they sell the V2 version like E92-lighting or justpal (ebay/amazon)

gp-thunder.com is the original site; ipremiertek owns the gp-thunder.net site which are NOT the same products.

I have purchased genuine ones from justpal and premierteknet112222 (which is no longer on eBay - was the official supplier from what I can tell)

yea i have the same bulbs the real ones though. Got mine from e92-lighting.com.

the fake ones are good at deceiving because you can read it easily

wait so which one is the fake one?...i just got a set from justpal on ebay aswell, looks like set on the left in the first picture which i thought was how v2's look....the box on the right is just v1 isnt it?

The left one is genuine v2. I have purchased from justpal before (of a 7500k) and it was genuine. The right one looks like a v1 but it's not even genuine.

I just received/installed my order from justpal of H8 GP Thunder 7500k and they look like the box on the left.

It was $17 shipped; justpal has the real versions for $17 as well.

Honestly it was a hastily purchase but I didn't expect it to be a copy.

Luckily eBay offers protection and will issue a full refund if the seller does not.

That is what I was thinking - why would someone fake a $15 product and sell it for the same price, guess there is enough brand recognition with the GP's to help out sales!

It is just a coated halogen bulb anyway - the fake probably looks the same, I would just be worried about longevity!

Colors are always off - made my angels look like a fucking Christmas tree.

I've had pretty good experience with the v2 8500k versions. Very bright & white when the HID headlights are not used. When its dimmed its a bit yellowish.
