I am suprised we dont have aftermarket vendors for ring gears. I used to work for a gear mfg. If I knew the material spec, pitch and overal dimensions I could get my old boss to quote it for me. I am guessing the ring gear is alloy steel 4140 perhaps with some heat treat on the teeth. Nice writeup BTW. When time and MONEY permits I will be bringing my car to PA to have one installed.

Where do I get M3 bushings? As part of my labor to remove and reinstall the the new differential... Are there any other parts that should be replaced at the same time? I'm already thinking to get the VAC cover. I assume the stock one has no drain hole to flush without taking cover off.

Jeff.

Ring gears are very expensive to build - the equipment used is obscenely badass and expensive to run. Since the market is still very small when compared to Mustang etc. it would be impossible for a smaller company to come out with a line and keep them reasonably affordable. Of course, I will never say never

i think that would be one of the coolest things to happen to these cars if it happened. maybe in the future, hopefully our aftermarket ends up similar to the B5 S4.
