Sports Suspension Ride Height

Gents,

I've had my e91 a few days now (and loving it so far). It's an SE and I ordered the Sports Suspension Option.

Not sure on the ride, I certainly think the RFT's make a dubious contribution, but I still think the suspension is a bit "wafty" and it started to make me think "I wonder if it's actually been fitted?"

Can someone with a stock or sports suspended e91 check the ride height for me, front and rear, from the centers to the underside of the arches.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure to measue on a flat surface, my drive cambers downwards, so the suspension is compressed more on one side that the other...

Aye, that's true. Could measure both sides and average the measurements!

I've had a look at the springs, but there's no obvious markings (other than a bar code)

Not as standard, it's an optional extra:

I think the sports suspension on an SE is only an E92 335 thing.

I had a closer look yesterday and the barcode label on the front springs also says "D5" on it?

Can anyone help?

How many fingers can you fit above tyre in front and back? - for comparison - I can get 3 in front and 2 in back on my SE - no sports suspension fitted.

That was my first impression of how to measure it, from memory the sports suspension gives 15mm drop, so if you've got thinner fingers than me...

Thanks though, what wheels do you have?

Got an msport and the suspension is rock solid, stays level no matter what, corners like a dream. Does sound a bit odd.

I'll get it level and measure it later, but a quick measure yesterday suggests it is sitting lower than 1stnewcar's measurements, thanks for that.

It's difficult to describe, "wafty" is probably not the best. I can sort of feel the difference between the suspension and the tyres, I can feel the car "pitching" front and back.

I also get random tramlining (not severe, but its randomness makes it more noticable).

Still, I did come from something with seriously hard/crashy suspension...
