E93 car wash

F**** got all soaked today and was very embarrassing too, my wife was like wtf kinda BMW leaks inside :s

I've been to the touchless esso car washes before (twice) and never leaked. Today we both showered !!!

Wtf BMW!! So much for being a hardtop, who cares you still leak!

So here I am to ask you all this...
Warranty should cover replacement of rubbers no?

my car never leaked, but recently i got some power wash thing done and later on saw some water inside...not sure if it was due to wash or after wash when those guys opened the door and did blow dry and cleaning. but i suspect leak.
may be its a leak based on some kind direction and pressure of water.
need to check in next normal wash.

the same might have happened in your car.

if your car is in warranty, it will be covered. if its CPO/extended then not, in cpo/extended they only cover motors or mechanism...i had asked SA.

Warranty is done May so I'll be doing that soon. I guess in the meantime they'll check suspension (squeekin) and everything else.

:s I don't wanna pay for any maintenance just yet.

Well I found it odd because I had done high pressure touchless washes before and no probs. now, I've read about issues here and the forums, but figured hey I'm one of the lucky ones. Guess not!

It leaked on both of us right at the connection of the roof to the top of the windshield. That little corner is also the connection of the front windows. I can feel with my finger that there is a small gap there and I believe it puddled there. I'll have to play with the roof tomorrow morning to clean out the rest of the water

The dealer told me not to use the high pressure washes because they may cause leaking.

I think it is totally dependent of the position of the car relative to the spray and pressure of each wash.

I have felt a little water on one wash out of about 15. So I don't worry too much about it.

But once water is coming through, you are in a bad position in the wash - you are getting too much pressure on a vulnerable area around the window. So if you feel any water, you should immediately move the car a few inches. I always keep a couple of micro-fiber towels in my car...anything can happen while driving with the top down or in a high pressure wash. I would really like to get out of the habit of a high pressure wash, but a quick basic wash for $5 is very tempting. The thing is it doesn't really do a great job anyway. It gets the rough stuff usually, but not film on the paint. I have even seen times it does not get all the bird crap off. Maybe yours is even higher pressure than the one I use.

Remember every time you open the door on these cars, the windows come down 1/2" and the windows roll back up when you close the door - so there is a margin for error there, as small as it may be. But pressurized water will eventually find it!

I hate to say it but unless there is a problem with your seals or windows, this is a "normal" issue. Disclaimer, I have a 2011 335is, not a 2008 335i.

In any case it'll be a dealer trip for me and I'll post back results

I would never take my E93 in any car wash. I manually do it weekly with zero problems.

I never put mine through a car wash. Although even when I get it hand washed there is the odd drip or two in the car!

Not okay. Wash the car yourself using your own good judgment and stay away from anything "automatic." These cars are tiny and a breeze to wash. I do mine once a week and it takes me 10 minutes to do a fab job.

So let me clarify a few things.

- I have a CPO and my A seals are being replaced under Warranty

- The reason why peoples E93's leak sometimes and not others is because, according to my Service Rep, the seals can expand and contract depending on weather conditions over time. The A seals being replaced is a popular fix to the E93 roof leak and is very time consuming. My car has been at my dealership for 3 days now and should hopefully be ready Monday. As to this being a permanent fix....there are mixed reviews out there.

I've been wondering about the seal for a while. Are there products out there to prevent it from hardening and cause future breakage/leak?

I used this on my Z4 but it really just helps to keep seals from cracking and drying out.

1. Car Washes are bad and touchless uses even higher pressure water than normal.

2. Manual says don't go in a car wash with an E93

3. Keep those seals conditioned with Gummi Pluege

Lol sorry dude I assume most members on here are from U.S.A.

In any case, I'll see of they can replace. As I said there are a few other things. My suspension is groaning a bit when I get in and out of the car, I'm thinking the springs need to be replaced and shocks me be wearing out.

I'm gonna try that special lube stuff for the rubbers to help it last. Our weather here is ass backwards...very hot and then very cold, been inconsistent these past few years.
