Dave, I came back on e90 after a few months out and was hoping to see what you've had cooking. Suffice to say, the E92 looks ffff nice! Loving the wheels and red interior! I knew you couldn't stay away from the Beamers for too long What did you do with the 350Z in the end?

tossed it to the dealer mate.

That car had more than a few problems.. would have felt too guilty selling it privately hahaha

I'm a few years older than you V88TAC but also in N Ireland, paying just over 350 per year with totally clean record.

I live in London so it's not ideal. High risk postcode.

I recently turned 25.. I pay ~1350 with 3 years NCB: No accidents or points.

Very very nice mate! Just seen this thread. Car looks gorgeous and same wheels and scheme as mine. How are you finding the black to keep clean? I do motorway miles and its a bloody nightmare, with bugs and some fine scratches on my boot (you have commented in my thread)

How did you set up the split that way on the iDrive? I will have to have a read of my manual!

Oh and whats your cleaning regime

Cheers

Assuming you have prof nav (is yours a highline.. ? you have the alloys? so it's very likely your car has the media pack same as mine.. slightly better audio, bluetooth, ipod lead in glovebox and prof nav for about 350.. too good to turn down! So most highlines have it) then you just enable it from the overall options when in the main menu (not CD, nav, radio basically)

So hit menu then hit options then there's a split screen option to enable. It stays on. Really nice to always have the nav...

PS. Re: cleaning I'm very very anal about it. Microfiber and Megs NXT quick wash in boot at all times for any bird muck.. And 2 bucket method clean every weekend if possible..

I've not yet applied glaze and wax to the car: I'll do that in spring. It gets torn off so quickly during winter with the salt that it's barely worth it.

Similar position to you, a lot of m-way miles. Absolute nightmare to keep clean. Last 3 cars have been black.

Only had this one just over a month and the passenger door and bonnet have stone scratches already. I clean it a min of once a week, 2 bucket method and its had 2 layers of PB black hole and Natty Wax already. I find when its light dirt, a quick detailer + microfibre works great to bring the shine back

What is a quick detailer etc?

Just wondering what the basics are really mate and what is a good start. The dealer has also waxed mine and there are annoying white bits on the reverse sensors!

Yep... wax residue. Almost impossible to get out without taking the bumper off due to location - I'm sorry to say..

Lots of cotton buds with a strong degreasing cleaner is best alternative. and might do the trick. But then you need to re-wax after. Catch 22. But when polishing or waxing you either need to avoid creases completely or else tape up any areas like this.

Google "Meguires NXT" for quick detail spray. Or tutlewax ICE. Neither are great for regular use but if you come out after a day's work and find bird marks on your car it can be good as a stop gap solution rather than let it sit on the paint work (which will do permanent damage to the lacquer within 1 day often! )

Exactly not great for regular use. But once the paintwork has been sealed/waxed its good for wiping bird mess, tree sap, fine dust/dirt off the car.

I have NXT and AutoGlym quick detailer both do the job fine.

Also i find a credit card shaped object wrapped in a microfibre cloth can help get polish/wax out of the creases.

Looks like a beauty mate! Gotta love that new Sat Nav look, those wheels too!

Nice job on the pics I reckon, at least you've gone to the effort of taking them in an interesting location ... I like the close up of the rear badge and the headlights. Makes my 08 angel eyes look yellow

Get yourself some GP Thunders or LUX H8 mate and they'll be nice and white

Thanks for the kind words.

Once the car is modded I'll shoot somewhere more interesting than a carpark. As I said, I was a little bit worse for wares but knew I'd get hounded if I didn't post up the car ... (so many people knew by then that I'd picked it up .. )

Dave

Thanks mate much appreciated

I've got some mods sorted now.. Badges, grilles, spoiler, diffuser.

The car will be getting the same kind of treatment the E90 got. For some of you that'll be good and for some I guess bad But either way

Doing very well. Just sent Justin at BW Chiptune an e-mail to see if he will touch the N55. Hope so!

Can't wait to see the mod's in action.
