I heard ETS is good, though I have ER and so far it's doing good. Installation is really easy. Have Phuoc do it for you

ETS and ER seem to be the two big ones, but some people say the ER doesn't install as easy, costs a little more, the coupling if not tightening really really well can come off, and the fit is a bit stretched. I personally have not tried the ER or the ETS, so I'm just going off the reviews I've read.
The ER fits just fine its just such a perfect fit that it makes it a little harder then its charge pipe counterparts that use only silicon couplers, which can have the tendency to slip off easier if not tightened correctly.

Any charge pipe that uses the factory c clip should theoretically never come off when installed correctly, I never had a problem personally on my ER CP.

We're getting no love here on our end. Funny cause this is the first tuneable motor I've owned and don't have much besides stage 1 tune and k&n drop in. Magnaflow muffler's been busting my balls to get it aligned properly. So yea we new to start a revolution.

You can PM me for CP prices on a few options.. They are less expensive then the N54 versions as don't require a BOV or DVs.

+1 on the big advantage of ER using the factory C-clip. Makes install a breeze and fits like a glove. Its just one of the reasons its the most popular CP on the market..

Are you referring to the JB4 software?

So I'm getting JB4 installed next Saturday, my car has only 15k miles but I don't have enough cash to get a CP for at least a month, does anyone know roughly how long a stock CP will last with normal/occasional spirited driving?

My car is also under warranty, so I was thinking if one broke maybe I could just remove the JB4 and get a new stock CP for free, but from what I've read it seems that if your CP blows you could end up stranded?

There is no specific timeline for failure.. Some will last forever some will fail quickly. We've seen many fail on stock cars so there is no rule of thumb. Enjoy the JB4 and just monitor the CP and you should be okay, but the point of the thread is not for everybody to buy a CP now, but just that it should be in your long term modding plan, and you should monitor your stock CP periodically.

I had about 10 track days with stage 2 jb4 on stock charge pipe and it was fine. Mine broke during daily driving.
Undoubtedly stock cp was weakened during hard tracking

Did it leave you stranded or did you make it home?

I made it home on limp mode. Changed my charge pipe next day. I had ordered it in anticipation of it breaking and never got around to installing

It shouldn't leave you stranded but its not very safe to drive around with either as debris could easily enter.

Most CP failures aren't catastrophic but we've seen a few like the pic posted completely shatter at the throttle body connection.

Usually you can limp home.

Ok so to put this into Sara term:

The ER pipe is like Burberry the ETS pipe is like Wal-Mart? Why such a price difference?

They didn't go with a stock type connection which uses the C clip. I personally like that type of connection much better than a silicone coupler.

On the other hand they will both perform the same function but going with a coupler style will save you a few bucks.

Haven't installed an ETS CP, but the ER one clips right on using the stock clamp and feels real solid.

As someone who has had seals for hoses/pipes loosen, disconnect or warp during different load conditions of increased boost, I can tell you the ER has held up well. Put that on as a preventative measure and never looked back.
