I was just chatting to the MOT guy as mine is due this week.

All the fears about missing CATS are now realised since jan 2012.
(Actually there is an armistace until this month)

But you will have a grace period it seems, and you may get pass with advisory until next time and its cat back on time.
So if you get away with it now, you may have nearly a year to fix those cats or sports cats back in.
The new directive is STILL unclear about sports cats it seems.

Just so you know

Thanks for the heads up . I've read about the grace period so it looks like I'll have to see how friendly my tester is or swap back to the standard system and original DPs.

My mot was done in November so as you say I've got some months to decide how to procede.

Maybe I'll fit a full undertray so they can't see anything

Mine's booked in on Friday for its first MOT.

I had a chat with the guy when I was booking it in about fitting primary 'sport cats'. (I was testing the water for passing off De-cat primary pipes as race catted type)

He said that as the new rules were to catch 'removal of or interference with emissions control equipment' it didn't cover race or sport cats or aftermarket ones etc, as you correctly say. Does aftermarket count as 'interference with'?

But his opinion was that if the car was in good order, appeared by visual inspection to have CATs fitted, (i.e. obvious factory secondary cats) and passed the exhaust test he would pass it.

We'll see.....

Maybe the resonated DPs would be more passable as Catted? at least they have 'bulges' that could contain a CAT?

Are they looking for cat codes via OBD? I would be tempted by the bms dp fix if so!!

No OBD check AFAIK on petrol cars yet.

I hardwired the DPfix and speed delimiter into the JB4 when I first fitted it, nice and neat all cable tied into the loom on the bench.

Even though I currently have the CATs on the car it works fine and all post-CAT O2 figures are OK.

This will just save messing about with the JB4 wiring if/when I have cats removed etc.

The auto code cancelling is missing the point IMO, wherease the DPfix removes the fault at source.
