New tyre - FK453

Anyone tried the new Falken FK453?

I'm a big fan of the 452, about to order a new set of 4 to put the summer wheels back on. Probably will go with these new ones just wondered if anyone's using them yet?

Well I may have answered my own question. I don't expect anyone's using them yet because I can't find anywhere selling them!

Mytyres (which ship from Germany) are showing the front size in stock but not the rears. Nowhere in the UK is advertising these as for sale yet. Have emailed Micheldever to see if/when they will be selling them

This is the first test i've seen them included in, and they didn't do well. Falken's are strictly medium range tyres:

The 452 is shown alongside the 453 in their 2012 brochure, so I imagine they will be selling both for a little while, but they do describe the it as the successor to the 452, so I'm sure these will be phased out in time.

Micheldever are their UK importer and they don't have any ETA on the 453 yet, so its going to be a while I think

Thanks for the link. That only shows braking distances though. Whilst important its not exactly the final word...

Tyre tests never seem to replicate what people experience in the real world. Michelin Primacy scored 14 places higher than Falken, but after having had these on my previous car from new, I wouldn't put them on my wheelbarrow let alone my BMW.........truly atrocious.

I'm currently running ContiSport after having FK452s previously. Whilst they are very marginally better in the wet, the price difference isn't justified for me.

I've just switched out my winter tyres for a new summer set. I was going to get some Falken FK452 (had some on a previous E92) but I never thought they were that great.

This time i've gone for Continental Sport Contact 5 and I would highly recommend them, excellent grip and feel. Better tyre than the Falken imo and not that much more.

I did similar. Went from FK452 to Conti but I have a different opinion and will get Falken again now. I found Contis only very marginally better and the cost is a LOT more, nearly 50% more for a set of 4. They're certainly not 50% better

Each to there own and all that.

I just didn't get on with the Falkens, but saying this they were 19" on the E92. Where as the E90 I have now is 18", this might be why I'm thinking these conti 5's are far better... Maybe i'll try some Falkens again after!!..

Sorry yes that was flippant by me saying not much more, yes they are more but I feel the 200 quid extra is well spent.

No matter how much air or messing about with the Falkens I never felt confident pushing on with them always felt like they were peeling off the rim or to soft.

The contis really give you confidence and have a really good feel about them.

Don't get me wrong i'm a fan of the FK452 and bang for buck I don't think there is a better tyre, initially when looking like yourself I saw the FK453 and wanted them, but couldn't get any!!

ABSOLUTELY Chris.

Primacy on the cc last time around. Utter shite! No way better than FK452.

I have no idea why people pay so much attention to that site.
Clearly some 'agendas' at work.
You may as well ask on PistupHeads!

just put 452's on after having Bridgestone RFT's on, what a difference, truly has transformed the car, love them. And at 400 cheaper than RFT's why would you not put them on?

Not sure where your based Rob, but you could try Micheldever's in Hampshire, right by the station.

http://www.micheldever.co.uk/

Alternatively Bracknell Tyre & Battery 01344 411323
Speak to Dave.

Or Camskill & get them fitted by a friendly independent.

I noticed mytyres are listing Falken FK453 in some sizes this evening while looking around, not my cup of tea but may be of interest to those that do like Falken.

Why do runflats always puncture I wonder? had two of them in short succession, and probably only ever had 4 in total over 24 years of driving!

The event-tyres guy told me RFTs puncture more as they are so hard....
Don't really know why though???

Cannot fault 452s on normal roads. Only think I would see the benefit of contis with twice the power on a fast track. A
