Koni XI feeback

Has anyone here fitted the koni sports on stock coupe XI springs I'm curious on the results. If you have them on aftermarket springs or BMW performance springs that would also be helpful to hear about. If anyone had any direct comparison to bilstein I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks

I'm running the koni sports on the TC Kline coilovers, I know its not exactly what your asking but it should be a very similar ride to the standard koni sports with the adjustible rebound front and back. You could run eibach or h+r and they would ride nice. I have had bilstein's on my m3 and they are a lot firmer than the koni's HTH.

Do you remember which springs you had on the Bilsteins? I am interested in the same thing as OP, have had bilstein sport + HR sport on another car and did not like the ride on anything but super smooth pavement (e36 m3). So considering Konis & Eibachs for a 335xi.

Also what are the spring rates on your TC Klines?

I ran the same exact setup on my e36 m3 bilstein sport/ h+r sport and I agree the car was harsh except for on smooth roads. I think you should go with the koni's , they ride nicer than the bilsteins. As far as the springs go I think the eibachs or h+r would be fine paired up with the koni's. I would have to say that the bilstein/ h+r set up rode hard because of the bisteins. I'm running 350/ 600 front and rear per TC Klines recomendation for a daily driven street car, but I heard other people run higher spring rates and have no complaints. Heres another point that I took into account, by the time you buy adjustible koni's front and rear add springs your looking at $1200-1250. So why not the spend the extra $500-600 for the coilovers, labor will be the same. Good luck with your decision.

Good info, thanks. BTW a basic koni Xi set from HP is $712, another $200 or so for springs, install myself. Not into the whole coilover thing (or camber plates or poly bushing or constant alignments etc etc), maybe for a track car but not where I live now (high mountains) and esp. not on this car.

edit: plus I already have a set of used OEM 335i sport springs I want to try, and if those work it will be even cheaper.

I've been eyeing the new koni/swift setup for the xi that they have out now. I had swifts on my old sti and think they are the best springs I've ever ran in terms of performance and comfort.
I think this looks like a great alternative vs a quality out of the box coilover setup.

So Koni struts/shocks paired with either H&R, Swift or Eibach is the way to go for suspension on a budget? Keep the reviews coming guys, my x-drive needs it bad! Where is the best place to purchase a setup like the ones above? Do vendors mix and match springs with these shocks all the time or are they sold in kits?

Getting ready to purchase either the Koni Yellows with Eibach springs or springing (no pun intended) for the HPA Koni SA coilovers with swift springs. Will post back with my experiences.

I'm running Koni Yellows with B&G S2 springs (328i) and the drop height is perfect and love how they feel on a "spirited" drive

Picked up the koni yellows and eibachs. Great deals if you look around the web, paid $780 shipped total! Will update when installed in a week or two.

so the consensus is that the koni's ride better than the bilsteins?

I went from KW V1's to H&R/bilstein combo... with the KW's the ride was unacceptable, and with the bilsteins, they were a little more comfortable, but the ride is still too firm and I definitely want a softer set up.

maybe i'm getting older but i do want a comfortable ride, especially driving in the pothole ridden streets of NJ/NY.

Some like the ride. Personally I hated it. I prefer to be sitting in my seat, not bouncing around in it. And no, I was not on rfts. Just 19" wheels with normal all season tires.

kw's- way too harsh for the DD.
i never liked the bilstein's on any car, for this platform--HPA/TCKLINE SETUP, you can't go wrong, it's perfect...

HPA = coils with the koni adjustables right? people are claiming the ride is that much better.

i might just have to get the koni yellows. im getting sick of the bilsteins too.

Are you refering to KW V1's or V3's?
What spring rates would you recommend for HPA/TC Kline for a DD?
