How to tell if stock shocks are on there way out?

Still on OEM sports, 88k, any signs to look out for?

Drive a new e90 with sport and you should be able to get an idea of how yours is compared to new. At 88k though I'd imagine they are fairly worn. I just did mine at 71k and replaced with the OEM v1 performance shocks and struts, and pro-kit springs and it's a night and day difference. Much more controlled now and feels a lot better.

Press hard on each corner, then let go. If the corner bounces around, shocks are gone. If the movement is quickly dampened they are fine.

I just swapped mine at ~72k, but I have to admit I was positively impressed to find no leaks in the OE sport susp (ZSP). Now the fact the OE sport shocks are very weak to begin weak is a different story, I installed the v1 perf dampers and it's a better ride then with the softer sports as I finally have some damping now !
