How much di-noc...

So, how much di-noc do I need to wrap the dash and door trim (front & rear) on an E90? I am not wrapping the center console.

Also, which way is the "grain" oriented on di-noc?

Thanks,

Chris

You can go to the 3M website and inquire about a dealer in your area and they will point you in the right direction

The "grain" is up to you and the look you want

I wanted to know if the grain is oriented lengthwise or widthwise. Specifically this DI-NOC.

Thanks,

Chris

looks like from the sample they have it vertical (not sure how the large roll of it is) but to lay it I would go horizontal, it looks better that way imo

I'm getting mine from here http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=...rtcarpartsplus
And I would make an offer for him of between 5 and 6 per square foot...which admittedly is still high...but what are you gonna do...

The seller doesn't have a way to contact him through ebay - that's annoying.

Anyway, I just took the following rough measurements

Dash:
Left - 9.5" x 3"
Right - 37.5" x 3"

Front Doors (x2):
L/R - 33" x 1.5'

Rear Doors (x2):
L/R - 19" x 1.5"

So, I figure that I will need 48" length "with the grain" and about a 21" height. Does this make sense?

That sounds reasonable--however, just make sure that you take in to account that you're not wrapping a two-dimensional object--you have to wrap around the sides, and additionally, a little bit around the lip so that it holds and you don't see seams. I would want way more extra than that...are you doing the center console or no? If so, you'll want something more like 16 square feet.

And if you've never used this material before, assume you're going to screw some piece up the first time. Getting the really tight corners to look nice is a bit of a bitch the first time you try it.

I am not doing the center console - that is being wrapped in leather. I received the following from the seller (found his contact info on his website):

"You would need to order about 42" x 48" (14 square feet) because the grain the whole length of the roll and so you will have enough to wrap around both ends of the 37.5 inch piece."

I mean, that sounds reasonable to me...and if you have a little extra you can wrap something like a key for or cell phone or something else...I wrapped a friends iPhone with the leftover Di-Noc CF I had from another project, and he paid me a few $ for it, so it worked out in the end!
