unused small plug in battery compartment?

I changed my battery, and when I was done, I noticed a small 2 wire (red & blue) plug that wasn't connected... Did I disconnect something by mistake, or is it unused? I tried to take a pic, but all you can see is the wires. The plug blends in too much to see...
