Weird Indicator Light. Help?
Last night I rigged the Rear Fog Lights in my '06 E90. I put it back in, and everything works fine. I didn't screw anything up while I had the unit open.
After about 10 minutes of driving a weird indicator light came up on my little screen, it looked like a bolt going into my car. This picture was not in the back of my BMW manual. This light went away after about 5 minutes, and now the Check Engine light is on. Can anyone provide any insight as to what I may have done inadvertently, or where i can find more info about the indicator lights that aren't listed in the book? Maybe its just a coincidence that something happened at the same time that I was working on the car? I also hard-wired my radar detector into the car the day before, but it was not connected at this time so the circuit should have been open and not interfering with anything Thanks |

ok, a bolt at an angle going into the side of your car....
Fuel filler cap open! Fuel filler cap. Fuel or fuel vapours may escape. Check whether fuel filler cap is closed and locked properly. the bolt (gas cap) check the gas cap, if its loose, reinstall it, the Check engine light will go out after driving for a while |

100% correct thank you. went and checked, the fuel cap was a little loose, and I borrowed a friend's ODB computer and it came up with the same. The light isnt off yet but i only drove 3 miles so i will wait it out like you said.

over several key cycles it should go away. If it gets annoying, just have your friend clear it.
