Edit: If you search all post of steve.breen@dinan you will see, when they were active on this forum back in the days, what they tackled when BMW changed something on their end also.

Edit: Here is another one http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144293
thanks for the links. i guess i should've said dinan hasn't been updated since '08 or '09. LOTS of development has happened on the n54 since those days.

just for reference, back then, the procede was rev. 1, and jb was in it's infant stages

Be nice to have a Dinan software 2012 update, oscillation issue or not, seeing the software is a few years old. Maybe even squeeze a few more hp/tq out of the car as an added bonus, hello Dinan!

sheedyslick, Dinan bases their tune on the BMW software. They modify a bunch of parameters and call it Dinan. So this may not necessarily be related to just Dinan, if there is indeed a bug in the BMW software.

just a heads up, they replaced my HPFP on 4/28/12

from initial testing i was unable to duplicate the pulsating (as discussed in this thread)

additionally it appears gas mileage has improved from 17-18 up to 20MPG... used to be 22.

above subject to further testing

ppp

p.s. so 3 pumps in 30k miles 1 pump every 10k... not too bad LOL

I brought my car in for a $130 oil change... when i got there the guy said $150... lovely.I had a $20 off coupon so when it was all said and done i still got raped but least its a once a year thing.

Anyways the car is out of factory warranty and this was honored under the HPFP warranty (what 7 yrs 120k miles i think).

bmw service replaced the pump

I hope to report back the pulsing is gone and gas mileage is increased... will report back in a week or two.

Just came from the dealer. they said that my car received the problem free HPFP 13517616170 with the programming in feb 2011. Maybe i'll press the issue and see if they can swap it out again.

(forgive me if this is incorrect)

I'm almost positive they replaced 13517616170 on my car with a 1-13-53-7-582-770 model...

basically they said if it had the 13517616170 pump or ealier they would replace it, which they did.

My two cents, my dinan stage 2 335 6spd beat cobb tuned 335 6spds all day long, I was happy to pay 2k for a software thats' been around a hell of a lot longer then cobb subaru fan boy software. I had one guy that started a big debate at my work at autozone on cobb vs dinan bmws, he had cobb, I had dinan, I whooped him, and a ///M5, no disrespect here, but if you want to smash a product that is supposedly "garbage" compared to your 700 dollar tune, let us look at the fact that I would rather pay 1,300 more for a tune, and have one backed by a company that has been around a lot longer, thats' just the brass tax of it, and I assure you, the comments about being "rich", to pay for dinan are ridiculous. I probably have the shittiest paying job, and I payed for my 335, and its tune, and other mods, on a 10/hr job. Anyways this has turned into a rant, basic ending, don't knock one product just because you like another better, especially when that product has been the king of that manufactor for a long time more than the new flavor of the week, its a fad, cobb doesn't have race wins with BMW like dinan does, I apologize for any flaming or thread-jacking, or bubble bursting as it may come across, but I stand behind my dinan since dinan has stood behind me at bmw dealerships in utah and washington and gone to bat for me personally, their level of care and expertise, along with their customer service may not be a every day situation, but it meant a lot to me vs the new fad guys. Oh and I have never had issues with my software, expect for when it supposedly "ruined" my fuel pump, as we all know is far from the truth.

not sure where i got that part number now. but this is the the link to the service bulletin: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...5&d=1298062057
I've got the defect codes that were repaired listed in my vehical history: 0013980100, 0012070300. looks like your part number 1-13-53-7-582-770 might be a "bolt".

I had oscillation with giac stg 2 and then switched to a jb4, it was gone. I've since switched to a Cobb stg2 and I have no oscillation. The car runs great.

OP,

There are used jb4's for sale all over the place, flash your car back to stock and throw one on, see how it feels. If it fixes it, you know its the tune. If Dinan won't fix the issue, demand ur money back and buy something else.

I don't understand why you would drive around with oscillations, I doubt it's good for the car.

Matter of fact, I read very few if any postings from Dinan guys that bad mouth other tune companies, unless provoked and even then it's more about defending Dinan than it is about bashing the other products.

But I will gladly point out, the Dinan bashers here on site are the same old few, over and over again. For whatever reasons, I'm just not able to figure out.

As for my Dinan 2 flash, it has worked flawlessly since installed. For street fun, I couldn't be happier and I come across few that can outperform me! Is it the best track flash, don't know and don't care, I prefer long winding country roads for my fun. But 0-60 and 1/4's are respected too!

2007 Dinan N54 Oscillation During Wide Open Throttle

I experienced the same problem after having the new BMW software loaded back in April 2011 which was part of the HPFP recall. I called Dinan every couple months to get a status update and felt that I was getting the run-around. I firmly believe that they are not investigating this problem as they are too busy trying to develop and sell software for newer model cars. Yes, they have been successful in "wearing me down" with their B.S. I may have given up but I will be a strong spokesperson against Dinan for the remainder of my life. Sucks that I often find it more rewarding to run my old 328is with 350K miles to redline... as the 328is is smooth as butter in comparison to my pulsating Dinan 335i. To this day I still get ticked-off at Dinan every time I put the pedal down. If you purchase a BMW to have a steady and smooth power delivery during acceleration don't purchase a Dinan product. Dinan after sales service is the worst!
