Yeah, when i'm in law school ill buy my own car.
You guys work for your cars.. so do I. The difference is I came across an internship opportunity that will pay off in my future more than a minimum wage job would so my father wouldn't let me pass on it. I don't work any less than any of you probably did to buy your first car. Is that fair? |

Don't know about things in the states but u would struggle to it insured in Australia. One company might do it, might! You have heaps of time left to drive sweet cars and waste money on sweet cars.... 335i is a sweet car I love mine but it's expensive to maintain. extended warranty is a must! I don't know how u drive but this thing can get u a canceled license in no time. I say get a 328,.... Cheers Joe

To be honest, I've been waiting for a chance to use that picture all day and this too perfect. Couldnt pass it up. ![]() And answer your question, knowing your situation now. I say go for the new 328. As a 335 owner I can tell you its headaches waiting to happen and assuming youre a full time student + internship, I think reliability should be your main concern of any car you get. And like others mentioned have you considered going to a different brand to get similar performance to the 335i for a lower price point? Just some thoughts. Good Luck No disrespect meant from that picture, just having a little fun....I went through the same shit when I got my 335i (only 20 ) |

Ok my bad for getting a little heated with my defense guys. I get a lot of shit from my friends too but once i explain what I do every day after school they back off.
The other thing is in college it will probably be sitting a lot so i don't know if that plays into it. But my main reason to push for the 335 is because I'm not crazy about the new f30 at all and i'm a little sick of my e90 328 but a little extra nudge from under the hood might renew my love for it. And do you guys have any suggestions outside of BMW? I'd prefer to stay on the luxury side(aka german haha), but not limited to and something that isn't too expensive to lease. |

When you say 328i are you talking about the F30? I'd much rather have that than a 335 E90 if it were me.

If it is E90/E92 328i vs 335i. I would take the 335i. If it was E90/92 335i vs F30 328i I would take the F30.
The sole reason because F30 is a newer model and will hold its value better. Plus, it is a new body style and far better gas mileage and the turbo four make good power.

doesn't really care

I'm the minority around here, but I went from a 328xi to a 335xi for my daily driver, and if I had to do it again, I'd have stuck with the 328. I guess I had higher expectations of feeling this huge difference in power, but for my driving, the 328 was better than good enough.

If it's only for a few months to a year, then I say go with the 335. If it is going to be a more permanant car then go with the 328. YES WE ALL KNOW THE 335 HAS MORE POWER, but the 328 is a better daily driver and anyone that tries to argue that is not very smart. Also if you are ever considering a long trip in the car do not get the 335, you will spend more time walking than driving.

No need to flame the dude just because of his age and he could get a 335 by the end of high school. The dads got a turbo, obviously pretty rich. Nothing wrong with that. Am I a bit jealous? Sure. I wish my parents could've gave me that, but who cares. We all drive nice cars now and isn't that all it matters? He doesn't sound like one of the trolls we all remember from that EPIC thread.
![]() I didn't have ANY car until I graduated from college. I remember when I was in highschool, my dad and I drove past a Porsche dealership. I told him I'm gonna get one of those someday. He told me to stop day-dreaming. Man that response really pissed me off that time lol, but hey, as a result I was able to get one at age 26. Saved my as* off for it though. Anyway, back to the main topic. I would say if you think you're responsible enough on the road, why not get the 335. I had it before, and it was awsome. I like the 328 too, but if there's a faster car to choose from, why not. I traded mine in because of the fear of HPFP during long road trips and get left out of nowhere, but yes I admit I'm chicken. There are many here that did cross country roadtrips in the 335 and had no problems whatsoever, and from recent posts it seems the problem has finally been fixed (hopefully). I haven't seen any HPFP posts for a while. But if I were you, I might consider a nice 08-09 M3 over a new 335 or 328. They should be around the same price range around Mid $40k. Go for it dude. Then enjoy college and the girls - in a responsible way lol. |

I'm with you OP on the F30 lacking appeal. I'd get an E90 335i. GLW school. I have the 328i and it truly is a great car for getting around. Seeing as I have a side thrist for power and tuning, I plan on getting myself a 335 or M3 in the near future. Once wifey starts working again...

Congratulations on UT!
![]() As for the 328 vs. 335, go for what you can get the best deal on. Weigh your options and make the choice from there. Either car will be awesome, but you'll feel better about what choose if you know you made the best deal. Good luck and take some pictures when you get it!
