Look's really good.

Please update us once you mounted and drive it around for a week or two. Would rock chip be a common issue?

I have done the emblems on my car and her 2012 GTI, plus both sets of wheels, my chrome window trim and the little silver bar thing on my e90's front bumper. Really happy with most of the results (although my roundels could use something to set them off).

The blemishes on the wheel are curb rash, really really bad curb rash.

The process is extremely simple (I am not responsible for you not doing enough research and screwing this up):

1.) (Optional) Remove wheels from the car. You can spray with the wheels on the car, but it's more difficult to get good angles and you have to mask your brakes so you don't have rubbery bits gumming everything up.
2.) Wash and dry the wheels somewhat thoroughly. Don't have to use alcohol or sand or any of that junk, just get all the surface grime off and MAKE SURE THEY ARE DRY.
3.) Use tape, 3x5 note cards, or both to mask the tire off
4.) Spray the wheel with the first coat of plasti dip. First coat you want to make sure you get good coverage, put don't overdo it. Basically just get it so that the shade of the wheel is slightly darker, if you are starting from standard silver, then after your first coat you should have an almost gunmetal color as even as possible.
5.) After letting the wheel dry (15-30 minutes depending on circumstances). Apply a second coat. This coat should be just barely lighter than the first.
6.) After letting the wheel dry again, apply your 3rd coat, this one barely lighter than the first.
7.) Keep applying coats until you are satisfied. To me, the magic number is 4-5 depending on wheel and thickness of coats.

A couple pro-tips:
1.) Lean the wheel against something so that you are spraying out and not up. This will help prevent clumping.
2.) Clean the hole of the spray can between coats with a paper towel.
3.) Too many coats is better than not enough. Peeling this stuff when it's too thin is a pain in the azz.
4.) Check out dipyourcar.com

I hear its pretty durable, I don't really plan on taking it through the car wash anytime soon, but ill let you know how it holds up after a few times of washing it.

Process?

Mask off the tires (easiest way is to use index cars and line them up on the edge of the wheel to block off the tire) and paint. Idiot proof mod, especially with plasti-dip.

OP, car looks good but is in desperate need of a drop.

At least (4) cans...

And most definitely pick up one of their Trigger Sprayers (shown/used in all their videos) makes spraying much easier, ez on the finger, and gives better results

did this a couple weeks ago on my 189's and they looked great! but I had to get new tires mounted and the shop freaked out because it pealed off in a few places haha Got home and pulled the rest of the plasti dip off in a few minuets, looked like i was peeling a trash bag off of them which was pretty sweet, and the wheels looked brand new! deff going to spray them again soon!

plastidipped my winter set on the x3... very easy to do. the step by step in the above post is spot on... just don't over-do it at once... more layers is better - vs going crazy on one layer. idiot-proof mod for sure. plus, if you don't like it, you can just peel it off!

I used about 3 cans but i would buy 4 just incase and its just the flat black that you can buy at any homedepot pretty much.
