if anyone can advise me it would be appreciated

looking to buy a used 325d / 330d touring

i really, really personally despise the wood effect trim in some of the se models, but i found a really nice car, that i would buy, but for this trim

is it easy to change or very expensive to change ?

i'd be happy with any other finish , anything except that flippin wood !!

have seen some of you with carbon effect trim is that a diy job ?

Hi Kathy,
Cheapest way to deal with the iffy wood trim is to wrap it in vinyl.
Loadsa places out there who will do it, there are a few guys on here who have done it themselves.

Or in the classifieds section some interior trims do come up if you wanted to replace it all together.

Follow the DIY on removing the trim to get an understanding of what's involved if you fancy having a go yourself!

if the right car comes along at the right price & it's just the trims I would get the car & spend a few hundered getting them re covered in carbon fibre.

Just bought 2 rolls of black carbon fibre (£18 delivered) off ebay & going to have a bash myself.

It would actually probably be cheaper to spray them in some colour such as gloss black but so long as you have a hair drier or heat gun then carbon vinyl might be the best way forward.


I hate wood as well but not as much as cream interiors.

Personally I'd not ever spray interior trim. It will always look shit very quickly.

There are plenty of DIY vids on you tube showing how to vinyl wrap trims, as well as DIY posts showing how to remove the trims. I did my Merc last year and it was pretty damn easy. If you can wrap a Christmas present and work a hair drier you'll find it simple. Just set aside plenty of time and don't rush.

Is it from a dealer? I only agreed to buy my car if they changed the trims. They just swapped them out from another car they had in stock.

However if it is private seller car, and rest of the specs are good, go for it.

There are many people who would do professional job for about £150-200.
You need to remove these, post it to the person who does this work, and get them back in about 2-3 days.

If you try to do it yourself, you may be spending good 8-10 hours minimum. Calculate how much do you get paid for one hour, and if your time is worth of spending on these + material, then go for it (DIY).

I did these on mine and they turned out fab.

Been approached by one member already for me to do his too. Like others have mentioned, its not the hardest job in the world, but certainly time consuming.

Have you had any result on the existing car? was it a write off?

just carbon fibred the front grill surround - I will attach a pic but it looks naff in the pic - look amazing in the flesh & very subtle when on the car - pic is of just the surround on its own.
