Newbie

Hello,

Ive signed up as im looking to buy a E90 320D or 330d I have just sold my Impreza that ive had for 4 years, I want something that is more comfy and has some gadgets and a bit better on fuel, (Im used to 50 V Power getting me between 180 - 210 miles) Im being told that in the BMW i should expect to see 600 miles between refills,

I have a max of 12k to find the right car,

Picture of the Impreza

If you are after 600 miles per tank, go for 320D. Reserve some money from 12K for modifying it.

However if you want more power and torque, go for 330D.

I went to BMW main dealer yesterday and took out a 320D which i was quite impressed with, I then took out what i believed was a 330D and was extremely impressed, On the way back the salesman told me it was a 325D as he could not get hold of a 330d, I was impressed with both so i think really i want a 325D/330D, I notice mapping a 320d gives you nearly the same figures as the 325D, Im currently driving a MG ZR 1.4 (only paid 160) While i look for the right car, I get 180 miles out of 30 which i think is about 35mpg, Fuel side doesn't bother me to much but if i can get 200 miles or so from 30 i would be happy,

What year does the BMW go more eco? I see alot about it on the site but can't work put what year this happens

57 plate for efficient dynamics. On a 320d you can tell as the tail pipe is straight exit rather than droopy and sad.

I'd get the 330d as it's one hell of a car: But the 325d will obviously be more economic. The 320d more so again.

I have a 325d M Sport, getting 40-44 MPG combined. A remap will set you back between 400-600 to get it running at slightly more than 330d figures, with a better MPG! However, you could go for a 330d and remap that, then you have the makings of a beast! Horses for courses.... What's more important is getting into a straight six in the first place.

If your wanting 600 miles, 320D.

A LCI 330D will return more than pre-lci but will be alot more than your 12K budget.. That said once you drive a 330D there's no turning back!

Cheers guys the 600 miles per tank would be lovely but its not a must have, Like i say 30 petrol in the MG gets me 180 miles so if in a 325/330D i would be getting that or slightly more then im happy.

Is the 2007 325d in the more ECO Mpg? Ive noticed a few of these in my budget,

I was impressed with the 2.0D and to be honest with a map i think i would be happy but its the sound of the 6 cylinder that does it for me i think

As Mega has noted the 320D with efficient dynamics would be the one to go for, mapped it should be a pretty decent with easily 200hp+ and bags of torque.

All the efficient dynamic engines are much more economical, given the chance again I would have saved longer and bought a later model but we needed a car at the time so bite the bullet!

325D and 330D are more or less the same, based on the same 3ltr engine.. I think the turbos are slightly different therefore a small power output difference. Its been said that a 325D mapped isn't a million miles off a mild mapped 330D

No version of the 325d is efficient dynamics, certainly not a 2007 anyway.

Yes I was referring specifically to 320d. Was an ed package released for the 6 cyl engined at all ? I know very little about this side of things..

It does make a real difference on 320 though.. getting the DPF, the higher output engine, more reliable turbo and the stop start.. Around town mpg is about 30% better!

Thanks for all your input I will go away and have a look at the 2007 320d as as mentioned with a remap the car will be as quick as the 2.5,

I'm not looking for huge power or chasing figures I'm
Just wanting a car that I know if I need it I have the power

Without a trade in the following at my local dealer would probably come in within your budget - great colour and a manual (not so common in a 6 cylinder - better on the fuel as well).

The guy to talk to is Dave in Sales

Welcome and nice scoob

If you want an ED car make sure it's build date was after June 2007 and usually they are on a 57 plate. I noticed you mentioned 2007 cars, make sure it's the latter half.

But as pointed out for the 320d you can tell easily by the tail pipe for example (straight out, not down pointing).

330d would be my choice, plenty of power, great engine, extremely good economy. It's a very good all round package.
