Nice pics, and I figured after thinking about it for a minute, so overall xdrive would be quicker in the corners just because you can accelerate exiting the corner.

I put the Bilstein + Eibach combo with lowering perches on my car and I am not impressed. I like the spring rate on the Eibach's and agree with anyone who recommends them. The Bilstien seems to not have enough dampening on the rebound. So I don't like the feel of the struts so far. The lowering perches are a waste of money, and it only gave me 1/8" drop. So far after 1 week of install, the front has settled a little and is now 1" lower. I was really expecting more than 1.5" especially with the perches. This project was more about handling than lowering, but still only 1 inch!

Took a couple shots today. Thought t:ese would show how nicely this setup evens up the rake on the xi.

Go with the HDs and stock height springs for improved performance and same ride height.

I finally installed spacers to correct the "sunken" look of the rear wheels on my winter setup. With this setup, my 19" VMRs look great, but the OE 189 offset left the wheels too far inside the wheel wells.
The fronts weren't too bad. I ended up going with 18mm rears, and 10mm in the front. I was really just guessing on what size to run, but I think I nailed it. Wheels look flush and aggressive, but not boy racer/drifting setup. ![]() I'll get some pics up this weekend. |

Anybody in Boston around today/this week that would meet up and take me for a quick spin around the block? I have a 2011 e90 xdrive and while I was going to wait for better weather, I can't stand the stock SUV look any longer. I was all but sold on KW V1's, but this thread has me curious if a shock/spring combo would meet my needs. I am looking for a decent drop(not slammed), with a nice firm ride. The ride quality seems to be very subjective, which is why I would like to meet up with someone local. Let me know. Thanks

The sports. B8 = Sport.
HD = stock ride height. |

Ok thanks. I am tossing up the eibach pro springs with b8 package vs eichach pro with b4s. They are about the same price. Was thinking the b4s might be softer for daily use. Sounds like the b8 is very good tho. Cheers

edit: note this is NOT true on Koni sports, they are not monotubes like the bilsteins so the Koni shaft in front is the same (or nearly) diameter as stock. Bilstein has the shock shaft & bump stop inside the hosuing at the bottom, and where the stock shaft used to be, that is actually the shock body so it is much larger in diameter. |

I understand this thread may be a little old. How is the set up working for you?
I live in Calgary and given driving conditions most of the year am paranoid about dropping the height. I checked with a local tuner who had just done an install of h&r springs on a car IMO it looked like it had been dropped too much what do u recommend for a noob who's never going to track the car drives a e90 xi but just wants to change to either the h&r springs or the eibach pro kit. Im leaning towards no more then a 1inch drop. I'm assuming this means just the springs would be changed. Also what downside is there considering I now have 96k km on the vehicle. Judging from the discussion here u guys seem to know what you're talking about. Any and all info is welcome. |
