Thumbs up BMW releasing Strut Brace for E90

Info comming in on a BMW strut brace for the E90 that owners can have fitted.

This is interesting since there already are small strut braces from the struts to the firewall

Here is a pic

Ill get part Number when available in November

My guess is that it's beefier and polished vs the stock flat black. First CF spliters, now this...

Talking about CF splitter, they have released CF splitters and a rear CF insert for the M Sports pack

Wow, I bet those are expensive ! But I am curious to see what the front splitters look like, I have a feeling they will look really nice if painted body color.

Since we already got the two to the fire wall. I don't think we need one across the bay.

interesting, i was looking at my engine to see where it would go. i notice it will go across the oil cap. would i have to remove the strut brace to pour oil in everytime?? maybe this is for 320 only?

BMW usually does not release flashy performance parts. Look at the E46 M3 and E36 M3 factory braces. Very low profile. BMW is not a company that is usually about "Flash."

Depends. The braces to the firewall can still flex under torsional load just a tiny bit. The brace straight across would prevent that. That being said, most braces do very little except for look nice. If you are driving fast enough to notice any perceivable difference in an engine brace, you should be in a race car with a rollcage (which acts like the ultimte, uber brace).

Noted exception to this is the E36 underbody X brace which provides significant stiffness.

No its listed for 330i aswell

Looks like its got a bit of a kink in it in the drawing, so im shure it will clear the oil cap

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the carbon fiber splitters?

I wonder if there is any increase in structural rigidity?

Theoretically there is more structural rigidity, mainly less flex and/or body roll. The strut brace keeps the huge engine bay, as hollow and able to flex as it is, more rigid.

Whether you will feel a difference - very very unlikely unless you're a competitive auto-crosser.

These struts can go as cheap as just a hundred bucks but considering the E90 as a very expensive German car (with ridiculously overpriced OEM parts) the struts will probably be quite pricey. I'll put my money in the $600 range.

I'd bet it's a part for the upcoming convertible that can be used on sedans

like the old X brace for E36's

I have a 325 with sport and I do not have the brace - I do have the engine bay top cover, together with the rubber isolation, approximately in the same spot- about 6 inches back from where the cross brace would go.

I do have the two firewall braces.

Is it possible that the people who saw a cross brace in fact recognized the engine bay top "roof" as a brace ? If not I have to go to my dealer and request the missing brace in my car
