n55/n54 exhaust question

I just picked up a 2012 335 like 3months ago and the only thing I need now is an exhaust. Does a n54 exhaust fit a n55? Sorry if it's a dumb question to others but hey it doesn't hurt to ask... haha

From what I know, most cat-backs should fit, however, not at. Anything that's just a muffler section will work for both, but if it's an entire exhuast, you should check with the seller prior to ordering. My recommendation is getting the BMW performance exhuast - amazing sound, perfect quality, no annoying drone, reasonable pricing. Look it up!

Cool, Thank you for the info. I'm glad I don't have the xdrive.

n54/n55 fitment

first of all the n54 engine and the n55 are totally different. when i installed the full injen intake and hks blow off valve on my n55 i noticed there were several changes to the whole mechanism. however i am not sure if the exhaust manifold and cats have been altered on the n55. i would only assume so since the intake system comes out right next to the exhaust manifolds. i would ask the dealer before purchasing. im a big fan of DINAN exhaust but if you dont want to make a hole in your wallet go for Agency Power. I love the sound and performance from Agency Power but Dinan is more for " ey is that Dinan exhaust?!!!!" lol. and there is no 2012 335i 2011 was the last year produced lol. my cousin is the director of BMW of Monrovia here in California.

Sorry but you are wrong. One you can get a 2012 E92 335. Second there is no difference between a n54 and an n55 catback. The downpipes are different however the flages on the n54 and n55 are identical and line up in the same spot. That being said a full n54 catback will bolt up to an n55 car. All the hangers and mo
unting points are exactly the same. The only thing that is not the same are the downpipes.

+1. I should add:

N55 non-XDrive cars don't have secondary cats in the midpipes.

Jacksonite, pretty sure N55 car's don't have BOV's you can swap as they are built into the turbo.

Very correct. The 2011+ non - xdrive cars do not have secondary cats. The X drive cars do. Also another thing to mention E92 and E90 exhausts are different lengths. The E92 is a slightly longer car. Another thing to think about when purchasing a used exhaust.

I have used on my X drive car, both the AMS 3" catback and currently the Active Autowerke catback both for N54 models on my N55 X drive.
